Unique Melody 3X Universal Triple Hybrid - AUSTRALIAN TOUR and Impressions - Page 15

OK I am sending this to White Lotus today at lunchtime, he should have it by tomorrow or Friday.

Overall - yes this new version has improved greatly compared to the older one, the most notable change is that the sibilance is almost non-existent, and most of the peaks are gone too, at the same time it is a touch warmer compared to the original version, everything else is still the same

Sibilance only presence when you are listening in an incredibly loud volume, or if you are using a narrow/small bore tips, which I don't recommend.

I ran this through variety of sources, straight out of iPod classic and iPhone 4s, though C&C BH, Clip+, C3, DX50, and desktop through Aune T1, absolutely no sibilance nor peaks are heard, except when I turn the volume right up on the Aune T1 and Clip+ to a level that is way too loud for my ears

General signature is still the same as the old version (refer to H20, Lin, and my impression from previous pages), the only change is, as I mention above, this version is a touch warmer

This pairs best with a silver plated copper (SPC) cable, using a pure silver it reduces the soundtstage, pure copper adds too much warmth and thickness (though at the same time gives an breathtakingly incredible 3D soundtstage - listening to John Legend's 'All of Me' feels like he is singing on stage with you sitting in the first row, with millions of speakers around you, just incredible), SPC improves the original signature greatly without adding too much colouring - I'd include an SPC cable if I have more than 1, but I don't, so yeah borrow/buy/steal one and try it out

...and one last thing, listen to this track below with it...WOW...transparency, imaging, and BASS at their best...just WOW!!! - try and find the high-res (or lossless file)...

What is the best source for them for now? More comparisons with another multidrivers is needed:)

Liked it with the DX50/UHA760.

I'm back in Melbourne Friday, I'll get a hold if it then. Looking forward to it!

I don't have any hybrids on-hand to compare it directly to, but happy to leave impressions and do a few comparisons (to some single DD and triple BA) for anyone interested.

That's fine mate, impressions will be good, I love your write up about AX-60 but you don't have to go to that extreme haha...

Package received. Initial impressions:

This is the sort of bass that a hybrid needs to have, in my opinion. Excellent. Reaching deep down into the sub-bass chasms.

Also, if these are the "tuned-down" version with reduced sibilance.. Yowza, I'm glad I didn't get initial impressions from the original. At the moment, it's pretty smooth, but still a bit peaky somewhere. Only noticeable on certain tracks.

Comfortable, the units look nice, nice tin. Loving the dynamic driver.

Will give more impressions on Sunday - I'm on gigs tomorrow, boo.

This is really exciting. I can't wait to compare its bass awesomeness to my h200. I've always expressed how I like the h200 bass, and it'll be cool to find something better! Hopefully the um 3x is the one!

I can tell you right now, 3X's bass is so much better.

I rate DN1k bass better than H200, and I rate 3X's bass better than DN1k's

What can you tell about instrumental separation? The perfect answer should be:"better than Westone UM3x":):):)

I hope the naming isn't confusing people: the Westone UM3X is not a hybrid, it's a 3xBA stage monitor.

Edit: sorry if this sounded rude, it wasn't meant to.

I do lilke the DN1000 bass but it's a toss-up between Dunus and the H200 to my ears depending on the genre.

For most of the songs in my library, the H200 is my favorite especially for rock and metal.

Looking forward to the 3X's bass based on what you guys have described as I can't wait to hear a new player in the hybrid category.

My question still exists;)

I have both, I'll give you a comparison later today.

The sibilance is a bit of an issue still :( I hope it's not just my sensitive ears.

I'll get the EQ out later on (after I wake up properly and get stuff done for the day) and I'll let you know what I'm loving and not loving.

I'll post some wanky shots, too. We all love wanky photos.
