Great, seems were moving much quicker for a turn around than I originally thought. Thanks for the info.

Sounds great! Can't wait to hear the impressions. Still not sure whether I have time, but I might have some spare time after finishing the UHA760 review.

finally got my pair, at last!

the black dirt that covers the IEMs comes from the lining of the case. some of it even went behind the metal nozzle - hope they get dislodge in the long run.

Yeah mate just holler if you change your mind, I can easily fit you in at the tail end, either before of after H20

this is the closest that i can get with my phone cam. the left nozzle has that black lint on its edges (can barely see it in this pic), while the right nozzle is quite clean.

i like how well built the case though! still using the supplied cable, i plan to change to silver cables after a few weeks and see if there's a change in SQ.

Happened to me with my first unit, I panicked and asked UM UK and was assured that black dust won't/can't get inside the filter, if it does and somewhat damaged the component, you always have the warranty to claim.

I have silver, silver plated copper, and pure copper cables with me, I can tell you which one matches best with 3X as soon as I have my unit, hopefully tomorrow

great! looking forward to your impressions

@ everyone

do you think sony hybrid tips would fit in these nozzles? or anything that has the same texture as westone star tips? not really liking the default tips that came with them.

So FedEx just came and gone, and here I am with the replacement unit, much much better package this time, my initial unit came just a tin can with 3 size silicone inside, this time around, full packaging, hard carton white box UM style, tin can inside, and 4 sizes of silicone (quality is still shocking though), and 4 sizes of spherical foamies, just like Comply TS, and foam quality is actually very good.

My first unit was peaky, and sibilance everywhere - initial impression of the replacement unit, WOW...they did retune it alright, and some more!

Treble is clean and smooth, no sibilance, no peaks, warner mids compared to the first unit, and bass is good, like... very good

This is just an initial impression of course, I will run it through more tests tonight, with various tips and cables, but yeah at this stage, SQ is waaaayyy pass DN-1000, waaaayy pass AX-60, and I'm going to make a big call (pending some tests being run later), and SQ is approaching my LSX5/Merlin territory, yep, comparable to 4BA/DD hybrids - bass is a little looser compared to LXS5/Merlin, but much bigger impact...

more later...but at least you guys can drool a bit...

...and yeah, I'm pretty sure that the SQ will make some of yous tour member to want to buy (so Lin, I'd recommend you stick to your decision and don't come any close to this new unit )

Thanks karloil. Looks weird...

Yeah, I'm not giving these another try if it's that good lol. Perfectly happy with my HE-500. but then again, I like the HE-500 arund the same as the 1plus2 so the UM 3X probably would't make me want to buy them.

Great news, lets see what changes have been done, It will be interesting to hear the retuned version.

Long as they removed a large percentage of the vocal sibilance (or at least halved it) they would be much more to by liking.

Which logo do you have on them?  Is it the old style as seen on the web pages or the new one?

Dude...I'm taking about ZERO sibilance here, though it is warmer than the older version, you (and Lin) are the only ones who heard the old unit, but yeah, I've put them through its paces, straight out of iPod Classic for 20 minutes, and now running variety of 320k's MP3, ALAC/FLAC's out of Aune T1 fro my desktop, I have yet to hear any sibilance or peaks, and I am pretty sensitive to peaks...

Gym Class Heroes' Papercut Chronicle II is one album that is full of sibilance and peaks, so this is my go to album to test for sibilance and peaks, and I'm hearing none...the track 'The Fighter' I am only hearing like 2%-3% peaks on high volume, where is the old one is full of them

This track below, which you say above is full of sqealing and spitting , ze-fricken-ro sibilance, I'm hearing smooth and warm sounding female...

This track below, Lin said the cymbals hurt him, I am hearing puppy dogs cymbals, soft and smooth hitting cymbals

I'll stop talking and keep testing - but let me clarify what I said earlier, it is better than DN-1000 and AX-60 for sure, but not quite at LSX5/Merlin level yet
