aaah good old UM lab quality in peak periods.

probably put a narrowband acoustic filter in the nozzle biggrin.gif to try to cut out the sibilance? (or is that about fixing getting the logos biggrin.gif ?)

I doubt they'd change the sound so far in...

Yeah I would assume so, but let see how they response.

If somehow they are re-tuning the treble into a smoother, Merlin style, then yeah I'd heavily consider mine to be replaced

Nah, I don't care about logos, in fact, my preference would be without logo

Anyway, so I forgot to mentioned to you guys, Stephen Guo emailed me back on Friday, he said...

"...those universal hybrids are not in our official product line. They are arranged with distributors and tuned to UM UK's preference, therefore any questions about the hybrids would need to be directed to them..."

...which kinda make sense now as the QC is not within Stephen Guo's high standard, I had a bit of rant in the official thread because my tin case had a small dent on it, and the unit was covered by a black dust when I opened it first time. I didn't bother to do anything because I actually liked what I heard, despite the sibilance/peaks...

half an hour ago i got a delivery notification with tracking number from royal mail england.

i asked UM yesterday about their return policy but the ignored my question.

If this pair of iem is also affected with the sibilance issue i will definitely send it back.

I think we bought UM stuff and got already an ODM product maybe also developed from third parties.

Makes sense, and also explains why the uk get it and not us.

For those still interested the 3x is now in stock.

UM UK customer service really needs a lot of improvement! - i hope Stephen Guo is monitoring this thread. I requested for my item to be shipped via DHL or FedEx - instead they still shipped it via Royal Mail.:mad:

with the delay in order and now i have to wait for the additional X number of weeks for my parcel to arrive! it's so frustrating!

Might be worth firing stephen an email or pm on the situation.  Don't know if he'll have any direct input on the situation but it could be worth a shot.  It seems it's ampcity all over again.

I have fond thoughts of that hybrid though, especially the mid range coherency and immersive soundstage and of course lets not forget the bass. I think the king of bass though currently 'pure bass authority' would be ASG-2, that hybrid honestly felt like you were being smacked in the face, a fair amount of mid-bass but the punch and impact was like being hit by Mike Tyson.

@~WhiteLotus, the bass on this UM hybrid you should find completely satisfying. Its something done very right and I can see suiting a wide variety of people.

+1

today UM UK answered my question about their return policy and the sibilance issue:

I've personally tested the latest 3X batch, and you certainly shouldn't experience any significant sibilance issues compared to our earlier batches. We do however implement a 7 day return policy for our universal IEMs.

Hopefully everything is going according to schedule...
