Denon d2000 re-cabling options

Hey guys I was actually on this forum many years ago but forgot my account info. I even went to a head-fi meet around the DC area one time.

So anyway, I have a situation.

I lent my Denon d2000 headphones to my grandmother a few years ago and her dog chewed through the cables. They were stock.

I want to re-cable them, was hoping someone could recommend a place to do so? Also I read some people are using d5000 or d7000 cables with their d2000, is that a DIY job or do I have to send them to someone for that as well?

Anyway, look forward to the replies, good to be back!

I've been inside a pair of D7000's so they're not hard to open to access the drivers.   So if you're comfortable with a soldering iron it's totally doable to recable yourself.  However, I thought the same once and killed a driver on my K701's....so it can be butchered.

If you can't find a replacement cable, you can easily make one with some 22 or 24 guage wire, some paracord, heatshrink and a connector of your choice.   Also a hot-glue gun is a good idea to help secure the knot inside the cup.
