What the hell... how can this happen? Why would they fire the whole place, especially when they have some great hosts? I hope this has some serious repercussions for whatever new channel they're forming. Hopefully all the TSS people can find similar jobs, they're great at what they do.

Wasn`t leo laporte fired awhile back?

Ditto. They always had such good and thorough shows that it's sad to hear what happened. Hopefully we find another replacement for it soon. A new and improved version would be nice.

Wow, way to murder a whole freakin channel. That's unbelievable. There are some great show hosts there, and now they're all out of a job.
PS: Leo Laporte was fired, I think, at the beginning of April due to the fact that TechTV wasn't honoring their original contract, so he wouldn't sign the new one.

That was a great show. The hosts actually knew what they were talking about, I mean how rare is that? I can't believe someone thought this was a good idea.

So does anyone know if there is a replacement in the works, or is the channel just going to disapear?

It said in the article that they were relocating to LA, and 100 jobs would be avalibel for old staff willing to move to LA.

Very attractive girls with great brains and personalities.

As for Leo Laporte, I am sure that we will see him around. He has become a technology icon of sorts. I am sure that there are tons of offers from all of the major networks if he has become available.

Not necessarily. Sometimes in situations like this (where one company acquires another), the entire staff will be released, then rehired with renegotiated contracts. With any luck, many of the old staff will be back in their old jobs.

If not, then this is just another dumbass thing on Comcast's list of dumbass things they've done.

When we were in the US my tech support husband liked to watch Screensavers as if it were a sport. He loved how the person would call in thinking it was one thing, and they were just smooth, steering the caller to what was the real problem. What can I say? For him, this was like a sporting event.

A sad day indeed, I guess they don't care about their audience...maybe the channel is a tax write-off or something.

Animosity still lies deep within my blood for G4’s hostile take-over of TechTV. Every now and then I accidentally change the channel to Techtv, expecting to find screensavers, only to wake-up to a nightmare and find stuff like Filter and other craptastic stuff.
