is shure srh 840 a worthy upgrade over grado 60i?

I have the grado sr 60i. I am totally in love with it. they sound very sweet, but they can't fullfil my trance needs as they are very thin on sub bass.

after using my grados for quite a while, i am thinking of going for better phones with crispy highs and decent sub bass.

well, I mostly listen to acoustic music and sometimes trance and rock.

I had the m50's in my mind, but the highs on them aren't crisp enough and the mids are recessed.

The reason I am prefering shures more is because I am getting them for 110 $.

I have not heard them, but would like to know if they can fullfil my needs.

I love sweet crispy highs, detailed mids with decent sub bass and soundstage.

I don't want extreme sub bass just enough to listen to trance.

also i would like to know if they are really a worthy upgrade else i wouldn't spend on them and maybe buy a better headphone later.

I'm not sure the Shure (pun intended) will have the bass you are looking for. Shure closed 'phones are not known for their bass.

It's about 3dB up most of the time if this graph is correct.

Well this is the best frequency response comparison you're going to get between the two.
