Portable cheap solution (<$100)

Thread Starter

Greetings,

I have been lurking around the website for a couple of years, and never bothered to create an account. Now I've joined to try and get some more answers.

I am looking for an inexpensive set of earphones. Currently I have a Bose Quiet Confort 15, that I mainly use at home/at work/travelling and a set of adidas sennheiser CX685 that I use when running. I am on the lookout for a cheap pair that I wouldn't mind throwing in my pocket without a case and is more discrete than the sports ones.

I used to use the apple earbuds (old model) until their cable snapped. I was considering buying the new version of the apple earpods, but I wanted to see if anyone else has a better solution in the range of 30~70. I'd be willing to go up to 100, if it is a considerable upgrade. But mainly I'm looking for durability and ok sound.

Edit: Forgot to put in the original post, a few requirements of mine are that it has in-line mic/buttons for mac/iphone/ipod controls. I don't really need good mic quality, but I really want it to have one.

Thank you

Daniel

You have been lurking on head-fi for 2 years and you still use Bose 'phones & Apple buds?? You are clearly a slow learner... tongue.gif

I kid!

But seriously, I find it hard to believe you could go through this massive thread and the answer you settled on was Apple pods?

huh, I stumbled upon that thread twice before, but never realized there was a built in search/sorted list. =/ Just did a search around and narrowed down my options a bit.

I'm now a little torn between the Klipsch image S4i, Etymotics MC3 and the UE500/600. I was leaning away from the UE because I had one of those break with me (and one of the main things I'm looking after is a resistant pair). Any opinions on those?
