I just bought a used pair of DT770 Pro 80-ohm, and the ear cups both say "Beyerdynamic))) DT770" and on the headband, right before the head pad, the brackets on either side read "Proffessional 2 x 80ohm" (uses Omega symbol for ohms). Honestly they look like they're from the 80's now that I see them in person. The pads are worn almost flat, and as for these being "bassy", they aren't nearly as bass-heavy as many have said they'd be (using them unamped for now until my BSG cmoy shows up on Friday).
Thank you for reading
Beyerdynamic has done some revisions to the outer parts of the "Pro" headphones.
There is also the newer "Premium" series which came out in 2005.
but I'm guessing not a whole lot has changed (DT770, DT880, DT990) with the diaphragm (internal), over the past 30 years.
A headphone amplifier should improve the audio quality of your old DT770 Pro 80-Ohm headphones.
