Hey guys! I just signed up for this website as it seems to be the premier forum for all things regarding personal audio!

A little bit about me: I have always been obsessed with clean sounding music especially in my car, I have swapped out speakers for high end ones and threw some really high quality subwoofers in the back. I definitely had the cleanest car audio in my neighborhood. I have done work in all my friends cars.
Then recently it dawned on me that I listen to music ALOT well at home and everywhere I go, and I realized the quality of the music was sub-par to say the least. I was using regular laptop speakers and an old gaming headset as headphones.
So I reached into my pocket and hit the internet. I have always been one to find killer deals. Now I am not real knowledgable on what is high end ,what's ultra premium, or what is considered garbage in the headphone world. But I have always been interested in V-Moda Crossfade LP's so I ended up picking up a pair as that is all my budget would allow, and I have to say I have never heard audio this clean in my life. I'm sure there are better headphones out there and I'm sure these are probably considered bottom of the barrel but I love them so much!
I have been reading reviews and what not and found out I should get an amplifier, I was drawn to the fiio e6 for its price range and stellar reviews ! So I have two questions, first, do I have to "break" these headphones in and how should I care for them? And second does an amp really make a difference? Any input or questions you guys have for me, just go right ahead.

Welcome to Head-fi!

As for your questions..

1. Nope. Also, V-modas are well made and sturdy, just don't be throwing them around obviously..

2. Also no, especially for that headphone. I actually have the E6 and it's definitely a waste of money as you'll move onto better amps. Once you do move onto better headphones that do require amplification, then you can look into the O2+ODAC combo or Schiit Modi/Magni as starting points.

I love them so far, they are so comfortable and so clear! If these are basically entry level , I could not even possibly conceive the clarity and brilliance of a much higher end pair!

I had watched a video where a guy was reviewing the V-moda's, and he mentioned he paired his with the fiio e11 I believe and he compared them to subwoofers on your head, and I'm a bit of a bass head so I really want to give an amp a shot ! Would you consider selling your e6 if you do not use it any longer ?

If you pay for shipping, it's yours, but like I said, it will probably not make a big difference.

I pretty much agree with Gary. Specifically, you need to be smart about amping. Some headphone are designed NOT to be amped, therefore amping them really does nothing to it (or the improvement is very minimal). The crossfade LP is definitely in that case. It was designed to be played through smartphones, so its ability is really already pushed to the max with just the amp from a smartphone.

Going up in the amp ladder, you'll find just HOW MUCH an amp can affect the sound. The fiio is really quite a budget amp and a good start for portable players.

Alright, I understand, and I apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge but will using the fiio e6 boost the bass at all ? Also what would be the next step up from the vmoda's, so I can start saving up! I like bass heavy and crystal clear vocals budget is like to stay around 200

for 200, SOL republic master tracks is a good choice if you want to keep it portable. Its around 170 i think. If not, philips fidelio X1 can be bought for around 220-230. Those are EXCELLENT

The fiio E6 has bass boost settings so you could boost the bass more if you really want.
