DAC for my o2

Thread Starter

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to the audio world and am willing to try and learn as much as possible.

I am just wondering the best inexpensive DAC for my o2 would be.

I have had a look at the grubDAC and it looks very enticing but I am wondering where I could actually buy one or the parts in Australia.

I am open to any suggestions, thanks.

Price range?

Headphones?

Just to get two of the constant suggestions out of the way:

The ODAC: http://www.jdslabs.com/products/46/standalone-odac/

The MODI http://schiit.com/products/modi

Honestly you will get mixed reports about both, mainly because the ODAC is designed to be as transparent as possible, which some people find boring with boring headphones. That's not to say the MODI ruins music either though, both are amazing devices and either will keep almost all of its resale long after purchase.

PS JDS labs have really prettified their website and casings since they got their new CNC machines. I'm loving it! I might ask to get the new cases!

A cheaper alternative would be a decent soundcard.
