used Shure se535 for the price of new se215

Hi all,

my 2-year-old SoundMagic PL11 have a problem at the jack. It's not the first pair of IEMs that broke at the cord level, which is the reason why I've never bought anything expensive. So, looking at IEMs with detachable cord, I was going to buy se215 BUT I've found some new se535 (no guarantee left) with pouch at the same price (100€) as a pair of new se215.

Questions:

1) I can try them before buying them: should I look (or listen...) at something specific? I'm kind of worried because of the low price...

2) is there any particular reason why I shouldn't get them?

1 + 2) well pretty much you should find out, if thats a serious offer, or if they arent broken. Any chance to test them out before buying?

But if they arent broken, and the offer is serious.. Get them.

I can try them; but is there any "deeper test" I can do other than the obvious "I can hear the music when plugged in my phone"? Can they be damaged in some way that is not obvious from a very basic listening test?

I would just look at the general condition - are the wires cracked or kinked? Are the housings cracked? Is the mini-jack bent? When you listen to them, wiggle the wires around - do you hear any crackling or scratching? Is the sound even from left to right? If you can get the SE535 for $100 and they work - that's quite a buy.

Got them! They looked (and sound) perfect to me.

Thank you very much for the help.
