I bought a pair of Sennheiser HD380 Pros a couple weeks ago for video editing/monitoring and I've been ecstatic with how they sound. I love how neutral they sound and their incredible clarity.
However, I saw that the Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro (250ohm version) is on sale for about the same price currently. I have a Schiit Audio Magni/Modi stack (amp/DAC) so the 250 ohm impedance of the DT990s shouldn't be an issue. It looks like they both offer a wide frequency response (HD380 Pros: 8-27k Hz vs. DT990 Pros: 5-35k Hz) so range should be comparable. The Sennheisers have 54 ohms resistance while the DT990s have 250 ohms resistance. Would the greater impedance offer any benefits to sound quality?
Given that the DT990s retail for $100 more than the Sennheisers, in what ways are they better than the 380 Pros? Should I return my HD380 Pros and get the DT990s? Would I be better off just keeping the 380s?
