AKG K1000 Headphones w/Custom Cable - S/N 10323 - [Original Case/Shipping Carton/Cables/Manual] -- UPDATED WITH CABLE PICS

Will Ship To: Anywhere

I’m selling something from my personal collection. Never thought I’d do it but I would like to experiment with some new rigs and well, this would be too costly to keep in addition to keeping an amp just to power it.

I’m not going to elaborate much on these. They’re in very good condition, they sound amazing, and they come with everything you would want to find with a pair of K1000s, particularly the stock headphones speaker tap cables. These cables have basically gone unused as my good colleague made the most ridiculous headphone cable I’ve ever seen using some really nice Canare wire. The jacketing is so high-quality it feels like kevlar. It’s roughly 6.5 to 7 feet long and is a 4-pin XLR that terminates into some super high-quality speaker tap plates.  The cable is worth over $700 and I’m selling it as part of the package.

I’m also throwing in a 4-pin XLR to 1/4" adapter that was made by another colleague. Can’t remember what it is but it works perfectly for use with an unbalanced amp.

Anyways, I’m not interested in any low ball offers. The only thing I would maybe consider selling separately would be the custom cable.

Given that K1Ks frequently sell for $1,500 on here without the headphone speaker extensions this is a really good deal. These have been well taken care of and include everything you need, even the shipping carton.

Buyer pays PayPal fees; I'll pay shipping. Please don’t lowball. I will ship USPS Priority.

Would do a trade for like new HD800s + 1k and any
associated fees.

Every single time I see these up for sale the price goes up and up.

Bump for looking.

Hi would it be possible to go into greater depth about the cable with fewer superlatives and more objectively measurable terms? I don't think that's such a tall order considering your value estimation. Thanks.

It would help if I uploaded a picture of the cable... I guess that didn't happen.

I shoot with a D700 so it doesn't always work very well.

Will reupload all  images.

Well, that was embarrassing. See picture #8 for the custom cable.

It is Canare 4S11 with a 4-pin XLR Furtech input. It was made by a local Seattle audio engineer. I would find it almost impossible to be disappointed. Totally understand the reasoning from the comments above now.

The 4-pin XLR to 1/4" adapter cable was made by Chris from Headphone Lounge.

Thanks for the picture update and sorry if my tone came off a bit harsh. Good luck with the sale.

No, it didn't. I would have done the same and definitely been suspicious. I uploaded these to Audiogon originally and they have a lower requirement for file size so I had to go into LR5 and re-size everything. Apparently, I didn't re-size all of them.

Thanks for the kind response.

I would agree that these are going at higher prices, but feel that the following is fair:

$1,000 - $1,100 -- Sound in both channels but nothing other than the original headphones and moderate cosmetic wear

$1,100 - $1,300 -- Decent condition, perhaps with case, but maybe not with the speaker cable (which I find incredibly valuable) or other documentation

$1,500 -- Good to very good condition with case, speaker cable, and documentation. Feel like the shipping box is not necessary but I think it does give confidence to the buyer that the owner cares or 'should care' about them and has treated them well

$1,500+ -- Either new or comes with everything plus something else.

Yeah now that you've uploaded the picture of the cable and the lot of stuff included as well as your breakdown assessment on pricing, it makes sense now too. Good luck with sale.

Thanks. it's too bad that AKG cut off production of these. I imagine the margins weren't so good at  their original MSRP.
