Amp wise, you can get a iBasso Pb1, which should drive a heck of a lot of power into your SE DT 770, they run about $150 used, and you can get your DT 770 reterminated to 6pinHirose for around $50 at a few recable guys

if you need a more powerful amp for the money the pb1 is pretty cheap and gawd awfully powerful

or you could also go the JDS labs C5, there is the C5D whic is a dac amp combo, the the C5 amp drove the CRAP out of my 600 ohm Dt 880[got pretty loud] , I think it would work fine for ur dt 770! And it's around $170 is used $200 new

Why the recable?'
And I want a DAC/Amp combo.

My main question right now is:
Which one?
Eckerton UHA-4
iBasso D-Zero
iBasso D-42
iBasoo D2+ Boa

Why, the whole idea behind the pb1 balanced amp is the power it provides, if you want the comfort of knowing... THIS AMP WILL DRIVER EVERYTHING [minus Electro Stats and the HE 6 [it might drive eh HE 4] it's a heck of a baring for $150

Heck I like my pb1 sonically [both se and balanced] so much I'm getting a pb2 for my balanced D2ks

But to utilize all that POWA you'd need to recable it, I suppose you could keep the amp SE, but for $150 there may be other amps on par with the pb1 sound that can offer the same amout of power out of the SE jack

still,  I was SO sick of not knowing if my portable amp was enough for a 600 ohm dt 880, so much back and forth YOU NEED THIS MUCH, NO THIS much

I get fed up with it all and ended up with a pb1, still there are other amps, like the JDS C5 that should work nicely as well!

I hear the Meir Amps are also really excellent for the price!

He's talking about a BALANCED amp - this is a specific type of amp that uses specific type of wiring to cancel certain types of noise that is found in both channels. In order to use a balanced amp in balanced mode, your headphones have to be wired in a specific way. IMHO this is not for someone new to head-fi - this is a very advanced topic.

Thanks for the explanation. I want a combo DAC/amp, so I think I'll just stick to the options I had before.

I'll try to find one used but it's awfully expensive. Thanks for the solid recommendation though.
