DUNU DN1000 AND IPAD 2 WITH DENON EQ APP

Thread Starter

HELLO, JUST WANT TO SHARE MY STORY.  I JUST RECENTLY ORDERED DUNU DN1000 AS I'M NOT SO SATISFIED WITH THE SOUND OF MY SHURE SE535 RED.  THEY ARE A GREAT SOUNDING IEM, BUT I FIND THE MIDS TO BE TOO INTIMATE THAT IT LACKS SOUND STAGE AND IN SOME GENRES THE VOICE OF THE SINGER SOUNDED CHESTY, I DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS THE RIGHT TERM.  SO I GOT THESE DN1000 THESE SATURDAY, AND WHEN I PLUG IT STRAIGHT ON MY IPAD 2 USING RADSONE EQ APP, WOW I SAY THIS IS THE SOUND I WAS LOOKING FOR! :D IN TERMS OF OVERALL SOUND QUALITY, THESE ARE WAY BETTER THAN SHURES, PUNCHY LOWS, NOT SO FORWARD MIDS BUT STILL CLEAR AND LIQUID, AND NOT SO HARSH HIGHS, JUST SMOOTH ON ALL THE FREQUENCY SPECTRUM, AND THE SOUNDSTAGE, WOW! AMAZING SIZE AND DEPT.  BUT WHEN I PLUGED IT ON MY IPAD 2 (YOU KNOW THAT IT USES CIRRUS LOGIC AUDIO CHIP) IT SOUND A BIT FATIGING.  I TRIED TO TWEAK THE EQ SETTING BUT IT SEEMS NOT CHANGING AT ALL.  I ALSO USED ACCUDIO EQ APP AND THEY ALSO SOUND THE SAME.  FOR I WAS PLANNING TO BUY AN AMP TO USE ON THESE AS ONE OF MY CO HEAD-FIER HERE SUGGESTS THE JDS LABS C5, ITS STILL A COUPLE OF MONTHS BEFORE I CAN PURCHASE IT( I'M SAVING FOR A WHILE BECAUSE ITS 200 BUCKS :(, I TRIED WHAT I DOWNLOADED EARLIER EQ APP BEFORE RADSONE AND ACCUDIO, WHICH IS THE DENON APP. (THE EQUALIZER FEATURE CAN ONLY BE UNLOCKED FOR $1.99,) SO I TRIED IT.  AND TO MY AMAZEMENT, THIS APP CHANGES THE SOUND DRASTICALLY! THE SOUND BECOME MORE SMOOTH, MORE BALANCED AND NOT FATIGUING THAN RADSONE AND ACCUDIO.  AND I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT I CAN NOW CLEARLY FELT THE WIDE SOUNDSTAGE THAT I ALMOST FORGOT THAT THIS IPAD IS USING CIRRUS LOGIC, IT SOUNDS REALLY GOOD, ALTHOUGH I ALSO PURCHASED THE EQUALIZER FEATURE OF DENON, I DIDN'T TRY TO TWEAK IT SO MUCH TO ITS DEFAULT SETTING, (I JUST ADJUST THE 32 KHZ SETTING A LITTLE AND CHANGE THE ATTENUATION LEVEL TO -1.0DB AND DISABLE THE LIMITER SETTING, AND WOW, IT JUST SOUND SO GOOD! I KNOW ITS JUST A SUBJECTIVE REVIEW OF MINE, BUT THIS IS JUST WHAT I'M HEARING, I ALMOST FELT DISSAPOINTED ON THOSE 2 APPS (RADSONE AND ACCUDIO) BECAUSE I THINK I JUST WASTED SOME MONEY FOR THOSE TWO APPS BUT DOESN'T SOUND GOOD AT ALL.  I'M STILL PLANNING TO BUY AN AMP FOR THESE, BUT AS OF WHAT I AM HEARING NOW, MAYBE I COULD SAY THAT AN AMP IS NOT NEEDED FOR THE DENON APP DRASTICALLY ENHANCES THE SOUND OF MY IPAD 2, ALTHOUGH I HAVE SOME COMPLAINT( I'M NOT SURE IF ITS THE DENON APP) BUT AFTER INSTALLING THIS APP, I NOTICED THAT THE BATTERY LIFE OF MY IPAD 2 DECREASES MORE OFTEN THAN BEFORE, BUT NOT TO WORRY TO MUCH.  AS OF NOW, I AM HAPPY WITH THE SOUND OF THE DUNU AND TOGETHER WITH MY IPAD 2 USING DENON APP.  THOSE ANYONE HERE USES THE DENON APP TO AND ALSO NOTICED THE CHANGE IN THE SOUND WITHOUT USING AN AMP? OR COULD ANYONE RECOMMEND ANOTHER EQ APP THAT HAS THE SAME SOUND QUALITY AS THE DENON WITHOUT AN AMP? ANY ADVISE WILL BE APPRECIATED.

:D

Good grief - do you expect us to read that, or are we supposed to print it out and feed it into a text to speech scanner?

What. What do you think is wrong with my post? If you don't get what I'm saying here then just ignore me if you will not give any advise or what ever, I just want to share my experience and maybe I could use some help if you read my question at the end of this thread, now if you think you can't understand what I mean, then don't post of any useless repply such as putting my post on a scanner and convert this from what ever nonesense you are saying. You are really not helping me at all

ALL CAPS generally considered YELLING and not good netiquette. Nothing wrong with your questions/observations but sometimes the ALL CAPS thing is a nonstarter on the net depending on one's sensitivities. Hope you find an insensitive lout to respond.

Ok then i'm sorry I'm just new here and was'nt aware of that. I will note that the next time i post here, but the one that replied to me in that offensive way, could'nt he just say that avoid posting your thread in all caps instead of saying nonesense things? He really ofended me? Well thanks for you at least you explain it to me very well, not like that one who replied like a boastfull head-fier!

Let it go. Not worth it. Coulda had low blood sugar. In my case, the dog doesn't even like me then. :)

There are a couple (or more) DN-1000 threads going if you do a quick search. I think I scanned something about it being  potentially problematic with C5 (10 ohm resistance maybe?). Since that is what you're considering I would poke around a bit. I have C5 and looking for new IEMs and DN-1000 on my radar so it caught my eye. Could be the (lack of) synergy between the two (DN-1000 and iPad2).

Here is one thread: Dunu 1000- Immensely capable hybrid  IEM... but i don't think it's the one with mention of the C5.

Perhaps search, read and ask in one of the existing threads that looks appropriate or you may yet get replies here.

Yeah i already read that thread that's why I bought these, and I'm not dissapointed because these really sound more better than my shures, at least overall, although I have'nt read all of the replies on this thread, I'm asking for the right amp or DAC/amp combo because I don't want to buy any other player because I had an ipad 2 already, though I'm aware that the audio chip of this is not as good as those of ibasso and fiio xc, if ever there is a good amp for this ipad then I will be happy with these alone, the denon audio app really helps these iem's to sound better, but I still plan to buy an amp or dac/amp so I will not going to look for another high res music player, which is an additional cost. Anyway many thanks to your professionl reply. I guess I still have many things to learn on this forum, honestly This is my third post here and this post is the only one that I had that bad response from someone That I don''t know if he attends school for good manners wink.gif many thanks to you

Here's the deal: You came here to ask for help. The very least you can do is try to write in a readable and comprehensible way so that we can actually help you. This is a worldwide forum and many people are from non-English speaking countries, so we certainly do not expect perfect English, but good grief, your post was simply unreadable. All caps and no paragraph breaks is a really bad combination to try to read. If you found my sarcastic comments offensive - sorry - but this isn't 1990, and it's hard to believe there are people on the internet that do not understand the basics of written communications. Did you not notice that the way you write is completely different than the way everyone else on this site and every other site writes? You can consider me rude, or you can consider me the only person willing to tell you what they are all thinking.

Have a nice life!

well, as I said earlier, I was not aware of the all caps thing you know, and what you have replied is a really offensive to me! and if what you said is true that what I posted here is unreadable, then why did you reply to my post? because you simply read it, right? and instead of saying some putting my post in a scanner or whatever nonsense you are saying, whay can you just say that "please write try to avoid writing your post in all caps manner because it is much harder to read" which is

  • 100x100px-LS-0b61a15a_selecter275.jpeg

AladdinSane told me, so I understand right away

but the way you replied to me, was offensive because you are simply indirect in your statement, and anyway, you are not the only one who can help me here, so I don't care if you don't give any piece of advise, this is my third post.  The first two that I posted is also in ALl caps and some have responded to me very well, without talking about nonsens text to speech scanner unlike you're very rude reply.  I'm a direct person, and you can tell me straight of what was wrong in my post instead of giving me an advise to put my words in a text to speech scanner.  You are saying that you can't believe that there are people on this site that do not understand the basics of written communications? Well I'll give you many claps for being so highly educated, and the way you are saying that means you are the only one who is educated enough to write a post here, well hands down to you man  But like I said, I am new here, you see I'm a junior head-fier, so errors on my writing is expected, and I think you are not open minded enough and not polite enough to understand that unlike AladdinSane, you are just simply indirect that is why I get offended to you, and I don't care of how highly educated you are in terms of basic communication skills, you said earlier that there are many nationalities that post a forum here, so you are not expecting perfect english post for some, so why did you forgot about how imperfect I have written my post here? haven't you considered it in the first place? Here is an advise to you:  I'm not highly educated like you, but I could certainly say that I'm more educated than you in terms of talking to people in a right manner, and yeah, what I'm doing now is the right thing because I think you deserve my words, If people are polite to me, then I'm polite to them, but if people are rude to me, then I'm the same, I am an open minded man, I can accept mistakes as long as you are direct in telling me and will apologize for whatever wrong i was doing, but I don't like you because you are simply indirect.  and by the way, I think I can understand whay are you like that, maybe you  are related in your profile picture, I can imagine now why ;) nice profile picture of you, it really resembles your attitude.  Good day!

Being 10ohms, Dunu DN-1000 don't really require an amp, they do seem to scale up well and sound a touch fuller in the mid range, bass fills out and treble improves a fraction, you extract more detail. Your main concern is switching over from your iPad 2's onboard audio and losing the apps which I highly recommend. Depending how much you want to spend JDS C5D is rather popular right now and having heard C5 with DN-1000 it's a nice pairing and C5D will remain popular for sometime though it's not a cheap DAC/Amp. Another option that's popular is FiiO E10 however I'm personally not a fan of their house sound. There is one DAC/Amp I can suggest called Topping D1 MK2. which holds a price inbetween the others I've mentioned. I'll give you a review to read. And if you ever become interested in purchasing it can be found at MP4Nation.com.

Another great option for DN-1000 which I own, (not a Dac/Amp) is the little Colourfly C3 audiophile player, which is about $100. That pairing sounds very good.

Dunu DN-1000 are highly capable hybrid that will scale up well with better sources so focusing on moving away from your onboard audio is advisable.

Sounds interesting man, I am also considering to get another player, you are right about pairing it in a more capable player, I'm just thingking that with the help of a better amp or DAC combo, then i don't need to buy another portable music player, hmmm, well I guess pairing it to a more high end player likei you suggest is an answer, what do you think about fiio x3? It caught my attention at first because of the on board dac wolfson and a good amplifier chip too, but i also heard about colorfly players a nice pairing with high end iems. I'm just really think that if an amp could help then maybe I don,t need to buy another player, an eq app did help but sometimes its a bit buggy, so i don't want to rely on apps alone, I want a solid equipment either a better amp if I decided to choose my ipad 2, or choose a better player that is enough to drive these iem without an amp, so now I'm thinking for whats the best between the two option, since either is a possible solution. Anyway, many thanks to your suggestion man, I highly appreciated it, thank ypu so much.
