Jessica Lea Mayfield - Make My Head Sing... (2014)

Jessica Lea Mayfield has a sweet and dreamy voice, which she likes to mix with grungy guitars and dark lyrics. Sometimes she reminds me of some of the Pixies' songs that had the sweet female vocals but the heavy guitars.

Jon Langford & Skull Orchard - Here Be Monsters (2014)

Mr. Langford is known for his work with many bands including The Mekons, The Waco Brothers, and The Pine Valley Cosmonauts as well as his solo records. His latest effort is well worth a listen.

Ancient Bards -  A New Dawn Ending

Sara Sasquani, she has really an outstanding voice, well.. I don't like lyrics and compositions (too much swords and fantasy for my taste), looking forward I bet she will do something of great!

Sisyphus

The finally-released Sufjan Stevens trip-hop collaboration with Son Lux and Serengeti.  My first listens were at times sweet, at times infuriating, but always interesting.

Perfect *****: Say Yes to Love

High-energy, female-fronted punk-flavored rock thickly cloaked in static, tape-hiss, and feedback. It's gotten a lot of hate--but it sounds pretty great to me.

Swans: To Be Kind

Swans may be the most challenging, forward-thinking band of the last thirty years, and this may be their best album. I haven't had an album stop me in my tracks so utterly since Sunn O)))'s Monoliths and Dimensions--I'd go so far as to call it transcendent. My personal album of the year, at this point.

Afghan Whigs - Do To The Beast (2014)

The first Afghan Whigs album since 1998!

La Roux sophomore studio album Trouble In Paradise, scheduled to be released on July 7, 2014 via Polydor.
They've been completely quiet for a whole 4 years. It is honestly a drastic change in sound from what they used to be before.

Such good music, but really crappy recordings.

The Haden Triplets - The Haden Triplets (released 2/4)

Phantogram - Voices (released 2/18)

Priscilla Ahn - This Is Where We Are (released 2/25)

Nickel Creek - A Dotted Line (released 4/1)

The Secret Sisters - Put Your Needle Down (released 4/15)

What can I say, I really like female vocals. ;)

Lykke Li -- I Never Learn

Swedish indie pop singer-songwriter.  This is a tight album with nine songs clocking in just over thirty minutes. This sounds fresh to me despite the well-worn themes of love, longing, and loss. The production is mercifully restrained for any variant of pop music.

I'm not sure how to even describe To Be Kind, other than to say it's one of the most fully realized and memorable albums I've come across in some time. Truly exceptional, I can't recommend it highly enough.:basshead:
