The Black Keys - Turn Blue (2014)

The official release date isn't until May 13, but I've heard it. According to Rolling Stone, it's the best Black Keys album so far:

I'm diggin' it.

Neil Young - A Letter Home (2014)

It's a new Neil Young album. Official release date is May 27.

Doesn't everyone listen to every new Neil Young album?

You right  ;)

Charvel Signature "White Pearl"   http://www.charvel.com/blog/2014/03/jake-e-lee-on-his-charvel-signature-white-pearl/

You still right about Strato, I can think only to.. hmm Malmsteen, Glenn Tipton (Judas Priest),  Blackmore, someone in Iron Maiden.

I always think it's kind of a strange choice to play a copy of a Stratocaster. With all of the variations that Fender makes, why head to someone else's copy of a Stratocaster? Why not just get the real deal, a Fender?

However, people do it, and the dude can obviously play... Even copies of Stratocasters are viable axes.

I don't know, maybe with a copy they keep the loved strato shape with different and dedicated pickups.. a ready to go solution

Yeah, I guess so, but it still doesn't make sense to me. Fender has put every kind of pickup imaginable into different models of the Stratocaster, so why not just choose the appropriate Fender Strat?

The Strat shape is the perfect shape. Leo Fender nailed it, and that's why it's never needed to be changed. It's been 60 years, and nobody has ever come up with a better design. (Sorry, Les Paul. ;))

However, my very first guitar, back in the 70s, was a Strat copy. I couldn't afford a Fender at the time!

I certainly do. but this was a miss. I listened to the first three or four songs, and then as easily it came, so easily it went in the recycle bin where it belongs. I'm not interested in his telephone conversations with his mother, or poorly recorded bits of songs. I'm somewhat baffled at why he would release this album. the reasons could be that he's just taking the mick, which is quite likely, or age has started playing on his mind, which it's also plausible. I think there's a point when an artist has to come to realise that they had their time and find something else to do with their time, get a hobby or something.

Yeah, I think I agree with you. There are some good songs and even good performances, but I'm having trouble getting over the recording. Neil has often enjoyed being difficult and / or weird, so sometimes he does things just to prove that he is doing only what he wants to do. He likes to prove that he doesn't answer to popularity or critics.

I think it would have been a lot better if he had just recorded it with modern equipment instead of the weird device from the 40s that he used. Bob Dylan can make records that sound really old without making them sound like they're just poorly recorded.

Old 97's - Most Messed Up (2014)

I didn't catch on to this band in the very beginning. I was living in Dallas, and I guess I thought they were just another local country band when they started out. It's hard to believe this is their tenth studio album and they've been around over 20 years now. Once I did catch on, I decided they were way better than I expected. Nearly everything they put out is just a lot of fun. The first track, "Longer Than You've Been Alive" does a good job of summing up what it's like to be in a band that's been playing for such a long time. They're old veterans now, and it's clear they're having as much fun as ever.

La Roux “Let Me Down Gently” (Single Premiere)

La Roux sophomore studio album Trouble In Paradise, scheduled to be released on July 7, 2014 via Polydor.
They've been completely quiet for a whole 4 years. It is honestly a drastic change in sound from what they used to be before.
