Need a CHEAP (~$50) pair of cans!

Hey Head-Fi,

I'm currently looking for a cheap pair of cans, preferably around $50 or so. I'm a broke college student so I really can't stretch my budget, but I'm afraid my roommates are starting to get annoyed with how loudly I listen to music through my PC speakers so its time for me to get some headphones.

The source will be a Creative X-Fi Titanium Fatality Pro sound card when I'm on my PC, and I'll also be using it plugged in my late-2013 Macbook Pro Retina. I listen to pretty much only EDM of pretty much every subgenre - trance, progressive, electro, DnB, dubstep, big room house, ambient, if you name it I probably listen to it. For this reason I would prefer something a little on the bassier side. I don't do any recording or editing or anything, just pure listening. I also do watch a fair amount of movies on my computer as well.

Here are some of the headphones I've seen that have caught my eye. Haven't really done much research but these are in my price range and have decent reviews per Amazon:

Sony XB400: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDR-XB400-Series-Extra-Headphones/dp/B00AN8T442/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1389570757&sr=8-6&keywords=sony+xb+headphones

Audio Technica ATH-M30: http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-M30-Professional-Closed-back-Headphones/dp/B00007E7C8/ref=pd_cp_e_1

Monoprice 8323: http://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-108323-Premium-Hi-Fi-Headphone/dp/B007SP2CO2/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1389571702&sr=1-2&keywords=monoprice

JVC HARX700: http://www.amazon.com/JVC-HARX700-Precision-Sound-Headphones/dp/B0013OWPV4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1389571766&sr=8-1&keywords=JVC+HARX

Any input on these, or any recommendations on what else I should check out? Really trying to keep it under $50 and so far I haven't found much else for that price.

Thanks in advance!

I really liked the HARX900 when I had them, but I haven't heard any of these so I can't comment on those. I'm gonna be a bit biased but, you should go for the HARX700 as I'm fairly sure they're similar, another option would be to save up the extra $20 to get the HARX900.

I would recommend Koss DJ100 they're the best in that price range that I've heard. Otherwise for your music type the Sony XB400 would be a fun headphone maybe not the clearest sound but fun bass.

Don't get the JVC HARX700! I have them and for edm they're not good, the bass is just not there at all.. I think they're better for other reasons cause they're more neutral. I think the ATH M30 would be good or the Sony, but I'm just guessing. I heard Philips Citiscape headphones aren't bad either
