Looking for best SQ $300 closed full size over-ear headphones with great isolation and comfort

Thread Starter

This is my first plunge into the midfi territory and I want to buy something that will last for at home use. I sometime deal with noises through my apt's thin wall so I'm also looking for cans with great isolation and long time use. I need something that I can leave on my head for hours in my room without discomfort, external appearances is secondary(although the V-Moda M-80 looks great!).

I listen to pop, rock, classical, alternative. Over the top bass isn't what I want, I'd like a faithful reproduction. What are the best options that I have?

Some cans I've looked at:

-.NAD VISO HP50

-PSB M4U-1

-MAD Dog, additional amp costs more money, not sure if worth the additional costs

-Sennheiser Momentum, although innerfidelity removed it from the wall of fame in favor of the HP50

So far the hp50 looks promising. But is there any other products that I've missed?

Sounds to me like you have already done your homework - I don't think any of those are a bad choice. Now just take your best shot, pull the trigger and let us know how you like them! smily_headphones1.gif

^ i definitely agree. Seems like you're in the right place with these choices. I would also consider removing the momentums. Theyre great headphones with a sound that's not overly v shaped yet very fun sounding, but i never felt like they were extraordinary for the price.
