Or rather, those cables were already compatible since they are using the same headphone connector as HD5x8.

Aren't the momentum cables compatible or is the jack too short?

Possibly too short.  I wouldn't know without trying one out, but note how the original cables have a longer headphone connector than the Momentums.

I have the HD 598 and Momentum (over and on ear) plus aftermarket cables for those models. I have the HDJ 7 and none of the 598 nor the Momentum cables fit. frown.gif

I'm finding it impossible to believe you.

Proportions match up.  Same twist-n-lock 2.5mm TRS plug.  Even ATH-M50x matches.

HD6/7/8

HD5x8

Momentums

Nevertheless, if there isn't more feedback on the matter by the time I get around to trying out HD6, 7, and 8, I'll post photos to confirm once and for all.

I just tried my 558 cable and it doesn't fit.

Well, this is all Stereolab42's problem most of all.  =X

Unless that Chinese seller got it right.

It's the depth of the headphones opening that is the problem but feel free to buy all of them and try for yourself.

Just got my short HD8 cable from random Chinese dude on eBay. Works great! Quality of the cable is spectacular, even better than the OEM I would say. He sells it in many lengths. Highly recommended.

ugh, more money down the drain!

A few questions about the HD8: Do you need to burn them in for a while and will it make a difference? Also will I be overwhelmed by the bass if I use a Beats Mixr?

I'm looking at this headphone as a possible upgrade to my Beats.
