Hi everyone, I just joined because I am a proud owner of some HD8's. Upgraded from a second hand pair of hd25's. Having read through some of this thread I haven't seen many DJ's talking about them - I was wondering if anyone had found a really easy way of switching between having both headphones on, and one on, one off (if that makes sense?!)?

Basically I don't find the switching between the different earcup positions as it is meant to be done very natural, especially not when I only have one hand free and the other one is fiddling with a mixer! Is anyone else getting this? Do any of you have an easier way to do it with one hand?

Also I am looking into getting an amp for it as I mostly use my iPhone/iPad to listen from unless using them to dj, and apparently the sound quality is better with an amp! Can many one recommend one that is old/abundant enough for me to be able to find second hand pretty easily?

Thanks in advance to any lovely person that answers!

Ps: I'm linking a video of my pair, I sent them to the lovely people at Custom Cans who did a fantastic job painting them (they are slightly more purple in real life!)

From what I've read and heard, the HD7 and HD8 are the same just different build quality. HD8 being the better build quality.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

According to hekeli (I think it was) which did measure all 3 of them in this thread, the HD8 had slightly more subbass over HD7, the HD7 had subbass and midbass quite in balance while the HD8 is slightly skewed towards subass.

Then again in Tyll's measurements it looks fairly the same except the HD7 looking to have punchier bass by looking at the 30Hz square wave here HD8 vs HD7 (the HD7 have a bigger peak). That was also seen in hekeli's measurement in this thread. So it seems they are roughly the same but the bass "punches" slightly more noticeably in HD7. That was also along the lines when I asked the Sennheiser rep here about the differences in sound between HD7 and 8.

I feel like you'd be better off with a different headphone for gaming. I always switch to my hd558's for games.

Received the HD8 DJ's today and boy the sound is supreme not like a DJ can at all apart from the bass the mids are there the highs are there without hurting your ears, when you listening to these headphones it is a perfect experience the sound is just lush and wonderful can't explain it the bass is satisfying without interrupting the mids, its like a sandwich of music on your ears and the build quality is faultless just need a smaller cable for portability which is on order but comparing these to my hd580 and 600's sound quality wise they are much better and thats not including the bass these are my favourite cans I have listened to so far and I have owned and tried hundreds of headphones.
