Hi,

Long time fan, first time post

I am looking for the best sounding headphones i can possibly buy under $ 200

I may use them for traveling, so i am keen to get noise isolating and closed design headphones.

I'm going to use them with my cell phone mostly and i prefer a more melodious sound then a bass heavy one.

I haven't tried any of them, cause i cant find them in India.

Few places stock such headphones and no one allows you to open the box and try it.

So I'm really counting on you guy's for a little help.

I am considering,

The cult favorite ATH M50 ,

Sennheiser HD 380 Pro and

Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO,

If i have missed any headphones, that i should consider, please let me know

Thanking You

Ravi

K550 is good but it's not very portable.

At $200, ill recommend:
ATH ESW9a
V-Moda M80
ES FC300
Focal Spirit One
MDR 1R

Thanks davidsh andTrunks159 for your sugestions.

I appreciate how quickly you guys replied.

V-Moda M80 are supposed to be built really well

ES FC300   the onkyo's were rated 2nd by the wire cutters in this segment

MDR 1R is EXP but is awesome, even compared to the Sennheiser Momentum .

The AKG K550 is $212 I don't mind spending more if it is a lot better than the rest, nut i'd like to stay within a

$130 to $200 range

Focal Spirit One, This one might be a bit out of my budget at $279

Also Sennheiser Momentum On Ear is now out for $197

I found this : http://www.head-fi.org/t/639948/review-closed-portable-circumaural-around-ear-headphone-comparison-m50-z1000-tma-1-s-momentum-ue6000-mdr-1r

But which would give the best sonic experience

Which would you buy, if you had to buy only one pair of headphones in this price range ?

Which is the best sounding  pair of closed headphones, anyone can buy under $200, to use even with their cellphone ?

I would probably go for the mdr-1r because it's very comfy and sound fairly pleasing.. But I haven't tried all of the headphones above.
