Any thoughts on cables ...

Doesn't Moon Audio sell some replacement cables?

My thoughts are that wire is wire - but this is the fuel of flame wars that have raged across audiophile sites sites before head-fi was hatched.

When I had the HD600, the Cardas cable worked well.  The Cardas slightly warmed and liquified the HD600 sound, but without losing detail, making them superb jazz cans.

If I were to get another pair now, though, I would probably have them recabled with a well-executed UPOCC silver or copper design.

I have been very happy with the HeadphoneLounge SilverRay in concert with the HifiMAN HE-6, and am in the process of having a SilverRay made up for my Martin Logan Mikros 90.  These cables are well-made, affordable and sound excellent.

Moon also makes excellent cables.  Drew made me a silver cable, hardwired for my K701, a few years back (when I was courting the AKGs).  I think that his V.3 series cables are made from UPOCC wire now, too.

Forgot to mention DoubleHelix Nucleotide cables--UPOCC copper.  The Nucleotide worked very well with my DT880/600 and Ultrasone Proline/PRO headphones.

Moon, HeadphoneLounge and DoubleHelix are enterprises within the Head-Fi community that merit our attention and patronage (but this is not an advertisement).
