Broken Ultrasone Pro 900's. What now?

I recently got a pair of Ultrasone Pro 900's from my father-in-law only to find that the right side produces no sound. I am new to high end audio and feel like these are probably a little out of my league as I don't have anything to power them even if they did work correctly. Should I attempt to get them fixed or sell them as is and purchase some headphones more appropriate for a newbie? I'm not even sure how much repairs can run or how much I could even ask for half working headphones. Help?

Welcome to hifi.

If I were in your shoes, I would first try to see if the pair of headphones right driver is actually broken or if the wires from the left of the headphones to the right are just bad. If it is just a wiring issue, it is an easy fix and you are better off keeping the headphones. The 900 are fairly easy to open and you can find tutorials on google to help you out, but it's just a matter of removing the earpads (twist off) and unscrewing a few screws. If you are handy with a multimeter, just check the wires with one.
