Since we've nothing to do but speculate on these two hp's, based on the specs revealed what amps do you all feel will work well with the new hifimans?

I hope the Matrix Mstage [2014] will be great with the 400/560 since I just bought it :P

Guys reported it is great with the 500, so... Though the gain with the new version is fixed at 15db [I'll assume it is still one of the more powerful amps with that big transformer :P] I'll hope for the best with the slightly increased efficiency anyways :D

I see the EF2A, and EF-6 on the pictures. I've read they had the EF-5 for demoing the newcomers, too.

Hopefully the Lyr pairs well...Would be nice to postpone getting a new amp for a little while.

What do you prefer aesthetically; 400/400i? 500/560?

I'll edit this post and keep an updated tally of those who answer:

400: -1?
400i:
500: 2
560: 2
(5LE: 1)
(HE5: 1)
(300: 1)
(HE6: 1)

Not from bias of having the headphone, I'd say HE-500. Very modern and classic look at the same time

HE-...6? :D

I can't really tell as aesthetics is really the last thing I care about it :P

But since I am most interested in it, might as well say the 560, closely followed by 400i, then 500 and finally 400... I am okay with all though but I really welcome the redesign for practical purposes :]

I never understood why people cared so much about how a headphone looked. I mean as long as it's not too vulgar, who cares? With the HE-400i and HE-560, I hope Hifiman spent more time on the secure and comfort part of it and it just so happens that it resulted in a better looking can. If I can't wear them, no point in owning them.

HE-5LE because of that matte gunmetal finish on the cups

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems the HE400/500/6 are very similar in appearance. I like the looks of these more than the new line-up, so my vote is for the HE500, or maybe the HE400. Then again, I can't see them when they're on my head smily_headphones1.gif

I somewhat agree the matte finish is nice, but haven't seen it in person, so I have no say.

More CES impressions on these.  I wonder what Samsung phone he used to drive them.
