Hifiman HE-400i and HE-560: From CES to Pre-Launch - Page 31

I think the HE-5s were Hifiman at their aesthetic best

If these HE-560s are even 90% of the LCD-X (soundwise) I'd actually prefer them due to being half the weight and the suspension type headband and half the price!  The only little gripe I have is the cables connectors, but these may not be the final production versions anyways.

I'm definitely not looking for a brighter headphone, but a more airier treble definitely would be nice as well as a better sound stage. The poor sound stage on the HE-500 is one of the things that kills the enjoyment with classical music.

I wasn't calling you out specifically.  I just don't want to see this turn into the K812 threads that were closed down twice.  That was a mess.  I'm looking forward to these as much as anyone else.

very interesting Im a fan of hifiman so would checkout the 560, wonder how these compare to their current offerings.

I have to say Im' impressed at what these are priced at,  not that drasitically different  then their current headphones.

Im a big Audeze fan but when they came out with their new stuff after the LCD2, they kind of priced me out of their brand

with the doubling of price.

But but but they're made in the USA!
I kid, I give a rat's ass about the country of manufacture.
In fact, by Audeze having dealers only in the States, I've been put out of equation as well xP

Also, 650g, really...

I am not hating on Audeze or anything... I considered buying their headphones at one time but I really don't anymore due to EU related shipping annoyances...

I'm so excited for the Jade 2, you have no idea. If anyone can make a fantastic 'stat like Stax, it's Fang.

well seeing as we don't have a Nomax I think were ok

+1 on that.

I was pretty much set on the LCD-X (need to audition them first) but that was the direction I was going.. until I saw the HE-560 announcement.  There is a place where I can audition HiFiMAN in Toronto so everything is on hold for a couple of months until they become avaiable.

You definitely want to wait for them to actually make them much lighter and change the stupid headband...

My hope for the new lineup, and for the HE560 specifically- is to erase the previous criticisms. A headphone that masters the treble presentation as well as they have with the bass. Anything less will be disappointing to me.

I find the HE6 to have the best treble of the bunch.  really does blow all the other models away.  But its drivability keeps people away.  silly, because with a nice speaker amp, your done.

+1

i still find them a little bright at times for some recordings, mostly, they're very unforgiving compared to the HE-500. but they are some of the best sounding headphones out there, and the bass... its my reference.

Since you're a fan of the DT880s, I'd say for the price you can't go wrong with the he4. If you were in Seattle i'd let you try them already and have you ordering by the end of the day. They're that good, do the felt and grill mod... you won't even think about the 500s (unless you want a thicker mid phone).

Limited time on those he4s at $450 though... I suspect these are the first to go in the current line-up with the 400i and 560 being the new single magnet orthos.

WOW ...those are ugly , I had gained massive respect for HiFiMAN headphone's aesthetics and build quality after metal build quality revision for all their headphones but these look weird , kinda look like some old STAX
