besides, the HE-400 had a lot of issues

lol. i think the treble issues that people are nitpicking about on the he-400 is extremely overstated. i've personally used them for almost a year and they sound fantastic!!! esp the bass.

yes, maybe for one or two tracks in my collections have a sibilance issue, but listening to those tracks with other headphones, you notice the issue as well, so more of a mastering problem.

yea, I think an evened out treble and upper-mid while retaining the killer bass of the he-400 would have been an amazing upgrade, but I think that the new concerns about the he-400i will prove to be unwarranted if you try them both side-by-side. I am excited about the new sound signature and can't wait to try them.

The HE-400 and HE-500 have been discounted.  In fact the HE-500 has ben discounted 2-3 times.

HE-300, HE-400 and HE-500 have officially been discontinued. A few dealers bought heavy on our closeout and still have HE-400 and HE-500 at great prices. In fact, I spoke with Todd at Todd the Vinyl Junkie today in Montana and he still has several HE-500s.

HE-560 is doing great and we expect HE-400i to be shipping any day.

I'd be surprised if HiFiMAN does another pair of dynamic headphones, esp. since they seem to be working hard on a new e-stat model.  I was wrong once, though ;)

Yes, but still in stock at many locations.

I personally dunno why you would go for a pair of dynamic headphones from a company that clearly focuses most of its R&D into orthos. just make that jump up to the he-400s man! hahah

Yes, HE-300, HE-400 and HE-500 are all officially discontinued but they are still available in many places.

HE-300 is a dynamic headphone that was already a good value at $249 MSRP and a fantastic buy at its closeout price of $149.

I have a question for you, Peter. How will replacements be handled over the next 2~3 years of older HE- series cans, seeing as you are discontinuing them? I know not very long ago you guys extended warranty on these to 3 years, from 1.

Wasn't it just a temporary thing? I thought it was dialed back to 1 later but I might be wrong...

My original HE-500s were on the older side, as I was the third owner, and they had a 3-year warranty, per the booklet included.  The ones I bought to replace them had a 1-year warranty.  Their replacements had no warranty info, so I reckon it's pretty short; maybe 90 days.  The HE-560s have a 1-year warranty, so that seems to be the trend.
