Of course you would both want it to be better and possibly even "hear" it as better. So it might be sincere and not just marketing.

And it is always possible that the new headphones are in fact a lot better than anything he has created in the past. We will find out soon, or at least we will find out if others hear them as better also.

100% agreed. But in this case, as a seller of both products, I have to be impartial to price. Subjectively and objectively the RE272 is superior to the RE400, except for bass quantity (but bass resolution still wins out).

I can't dispute the fact that the HE560 may well be better than the HE6, but I'm skeptical as I said. It's a good way to make dealers mad (and customers happy :))!

Nice point, but it always throws me off when people mention IEMs at all.
Dunno why?

Maybe because they too tiny for my head?..

In any case, newer will be better!

Not only because the HE560 is lighter,
Not only because the HE560 is more efficient..

But because my mind will have no choice but to accept it as wonderful and new and exciting...(!)

Visual impression and placebo effects will be in full force(!), for my mind's filter to acknowledge what it hears coming into its ears...
As the best thing ever herd... For a full 30seconds until reality sets in...
The reality of the unknown...

Now leave me be to ponder the he560..

@Sonido the merge has occurred.

I'm gonna sound like a broken record... but neither of those qualities necessarily mean better for sound quality. In fact, the more relaxed those design parameters are, the easier it will be to achieve better quality sound. More magnet = better for SQ, generally. Thinner diaphragm = less efficient, requiring more powerful amp, but responsiveness is improved (given that amp's power output is scaled adequate), generally. I have very little doubt the new HFM orthos will sound great, and probably even better than their current line; but I believe they would be even better, if the design parameters Fang have set out are not so tight (just to appease the users who keep complaining about weight and efficiency).

I wouldn't mind a 700g 85dB 35ohm HE600, if I have the amp for it (looking at you, Schiit Ragnarok), and that is reasonably priced.

I pretty much agree with this.

But it would do nothing to increase the customer base for HFM, or planars in general. I really think Fang has an eye on increasing market share with lighter, more efficient offerings.  In doing so, he may leave a few of us behind.

I agree..
Efficiency is probably is both the most lucrative and greatest challenge,
As the benefits are having more choices of adequate amplification resulting in substantial increased popularity thus more sales.

As an example, the only reason I didn't purchase an AlphaDog,
is because I knew the amplification I had at the time,
could not make it sing like it did, so wonderfully in the meets..

Time to ponder on the he560 once again..

Hi,

Sorry for not posting any news in the last couple days. We ran into a small issue during the final assembly of HE-560. This caused a delay in shipping the review samples to Jerg as well as other few reviewers. We think that we have found a solution and is currently being tested in factory right now. If everything goes well, the review samples will be shipped early next week and pre-order will start very soon after that.

We are sorry about the delay, and please bear with us just a little longer. We are almost there. :)

This proves that no matter how well you plan there will always be something to catch you off guard. Luckily we have quite a few very smart engineers who have been doing this for quite long time.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Thanks for the update. I feel we don't give Hifiman enough credit for their communication and transparency.

Can I ask a question? How long after release can we expect to see the website updated?
