I'd like to hear more about the d100.

Well to be fair, he also preferred the RE400 to the RE272 when he released them. That one was really confusing to me, as good as the RE400's are.

I think there's a bit of marketing involved with getting the new product rolling

There might be a pair of HE-560's available for listening for the Salon Son & Image audio show in Montreal this end of March.

If there is such a thing as expectation bias that makes us tend to like something we have spent a lot of money on, then I would bet there is a similar bias when you have just worked hard to create something new. Of course you would both want it to be better and possibly even "hear" it as better. So it might be sincere and not just marketing.

And it is always possible that the new headphones are in fact a lot better than anything he has created in the past. We will find out soon, or at least we will find out if others hear them as better also.

Yes, that's what drives about 95% of this hobby and lines pockets deep with cash.

I like the Mjolnir with the HE-500 and according to some it's good with the HE-6 as well, so I'm hoping if(when) I get a 560 it should have good synergy, otherwise I think these were auditioned with a ef5/6 IIRC, so those should also be considered adequate, and the wa6 which sounds good as well with Hifimans in general would also be a good choice.

It's called post-purchase rationalization and it's one form of choice-supportive bias.

And that's exactly what I won't have because I won't be paying for the HE560s, meanwhile I paid every cent of my HE500 and spent countless hours modding them. On the other hand there will undoubtedly be some new-product bias. So the two biases will fight against each-other in my homunculus when I do comparisons.
