I haven't really followed this thread, so don't know if the prices are fluctuating for these 4 models or not. Also, besides CNET (don't trust Steve), are there any other reviews on the new models?

Yeah, the HE-400 got bumped down to 300 and the 500 down to 600...  The HE-400i will start at 500 and the HE-560 will start at 900.  No other reviews or impressions have really come in unfortunately.  That should change as Fang puts the final touches on the HE-560 an they begin to ship out to reviewers :)

I'm happy that both Audeze and Hifiman took notice of this. I was interested with the HE-6, but I simply don't want to be tied down to speaker amps again. I like my portability. Hopefully, I can drive the new models directly from my Dangerous Source.

I don't think adding 110 grams without improving the bumpy headband at all is a comfort improvement, with regards to the new Audeze line. Edit: and the earpads are just LCD3 earpads with slightly different leather, nothing improved on that front.

It's probably more for the sensitivity. :D

+1. It's the higher sensitivity of LCD-X series and the new Hifiman models that intrigue me.

I've seen at least a couple on Head-Fi for sale in the $500 to $520 range.

Sonido sold/is selling his for $450 I believe. But yes, almost all of them are at around $520

But they used to go for $500ish before when the prices were at $699. I thought that at 599 retail, they'd go for less than $500 used for sure.

I believe they will go down even farther once the new models are actually available and folks actually need the cash to put down on the new ones.  Then again, anxious used phone buyers might keep used market price up.  I'll wait to see.

I bought my HE-500 for close to $500 back in 2012. I sold my HE-500 last year for around the same price. HE-500 have always been around that price. Typical price was $525. $550 was pretty much the max. Closer to $500 for the past 3 years I've dealt with Hifiman.

Anyways, are the new Hifimans using the same awful stock cables and/or screw connectors?

I might be wrong, all I know is that I saw quite a lot of them at around $550 during that time on the classifieds.
