For those excited about the upcoming E-Stat from HiFiMAN, I was told it's to be released this year, and projecting for end of summer. :basshead:

Oh that make sense why I feel like there is no sound stage on LCDs. Both my leather and vegan pads get squished all the time.

thanks,

I have small head, but also experience 'no sound stage' in my LCD-2s.

I'll be picking up a pair of each type to try with my HE-500 when they're released...can't wait!

I work in sales in a hifi shop. My rep went to CES and said nobody was supposed to know about the prototype because it was behind curtains. This is what he told me.

No words on pricing.

Agree. I just hope HFM envisions the large demand for the new pads and stocks up accordingly.

I kinda like GOBS of clamp force with comfy pads. Makes me confident nothing is going ot slip off, plus headphones tend to slip around on my hair... 'm siciallian and despite washing daily. My hair remains thick and a tad slikly due to natrual hair oils...

We have also spend a lot time on choosing the best sounding materials for contracting the pads. It's not a secret that ear pads have a big effect on the sound of the headphone, and we think that you guys will really like our new design.

We showed a prototype during CES, and the feedback was great. David Chesky insisted taking a pair with him despite our strong hesitation:cool:

I must say if any one was to steal a pair... he's not a bad person to have run off with em, Loved his Biural Jazz album, even more so on my new HE 4

yay! The current velours kinda feel... comort wise they are on par with the Velour that lines my Hifiman Semi Hard Case q.q, kinda like soft styrofoam <.< coming form Beyer pads, I hope the new velours are a touch angled and more comfy overall

Really hope someone compares the 560 to the he6, I want to know which one to upgrade to from the 500. The added comfort of the 560 plus bring cheaper is already a huge advantage, is there any indication of a new comfier he-6 down the pipe?

The primary reason is the stiffer foam behind the velour material...if you put memory foam or less dense foam behind it (ala Beyer velours) it makes a big difference.  I'm highly anticipating the new pad design quite a bit :D angled velours FTW!

I would honestly bet, the HE 6 and HE 560 are both upgrades to the HE 500, as to which is better we shall have to wait,

and chances are if the HE 560 sells well, and the new design and pads stick. We might see a new Flag Ship here soon... maybe the HE 6i? I am also 100% behind the creation of the Hifiman HE X [cuz it sounds awesome] well the name sounds awesome, I kinda feel like owning an HE 4 and Hm801 I'm under the Hifiman "spell" which is a postive for my ears and a negative for my wallet :D

Yeah I know both will (hopefully) be improvements. It wasn't till I heard the hd800, lcd2/3/X that I realized the 500 is my favorite of the whole lot,I hear so many great things about the he-6 that I really want one but it's comfort would be equivalent to the 500, which granted isn't poor(I have Lawton pads) but the new models look really comfortable.

Yes, but after the e-stat and not before. No ETA or anything, all I got, not even a prototype like the e-stat, just that it is planned [possibly early development?]

Source - a very respectable head-fier [I am sure he'll chime in if he wants to].

Not sure if I won't get arrested now... first thing in the morning :D

I like them a lot, they fit right over the plastic rings. They are an improvement over the stock pads as I never got a good fit behind my ears, if I tilted the cups for a flush fit my ear would be touching the metal bar in front of the driver. The Lawton's give mea lot more space so iI don't have that problem. I do wish they were slightly squishier. I sewed up some velour cups and stuffed them with polyfill but my first prototype was too stuffed, I haven't gotten around to making another set, but I do prefer velour over leather, or even better alcantara. Even if I'm not jive with the hd800 those earpads are sublime.

Those do look interesting.  Wonder if they ever go on sale.  Also, Alcantara does look nice!
