Hifiman HE-400i and HE-560: From CES to Pre-Launch - Page 93

I don't follow where you're going with the release to GA comment.

The 400 and 500 as well as the 4 are d/c. It would seem that the new 400i will offer a similar signature to the he500, hence the d/c.

I may have missed it.  Will there be a HE-6 successor out sometime this year?

I highly doubt it.. And probs not next year either.. Or maybe, who knows?
A new jade is confirmed to be in the works, though not under active development.

and for the new electrostatic prototype:

"First, I have to say that we do not refer to the concept as Jade 2. That was a model that some one here on Head-Fi came up with and it unfortunatey has stuck. It will be quite different from the original Jade.

The ES phone was just a concept idea that we showed to a few editors at CES to get feedback. Estimate price has not been determined and it is expected to come out later this year.

Prior to that though we will be launching two new HE models that we previewed at CES. HE-560 and HE-400i. That has all of our attention at the moment. Once we have those launched in the spring we will be talking a bit more about the ES phone."

I wonder if HE-560 will be out before the HE-400i. I remember I read that the driver for the HE-560 complete whereas they were still tweaking the HE-400i.

Seems like he favours the Oppo over the new Hifimans, interesting competitions for planar magnetics coming up. Competition is good, it drives innovation like no other.

Yes, he seemed much more impressed with the Oppo's.

Pretty funny the impressions about the House of Marley headphones a couple minutes before the Hifiman's!

if the Oppo's planar maggies are released at the rumored estimated $1000-$1200 price as the video suggests (and it almost sounds like Oppo is planning on releasing an amp for em from the video comments), it would be competing with the HE-6 and Audeze headphones.

Not really competition for the sub-$1000 planar magnetic playing field as Hifiman really has that niche cornered.

Well if it is released at the low end estimate of $1000, and we know HE560 will be $900, then the two would be entirely in the same price tier and heavily compared because they are both new planar releases.

It's going to be a good year for planars between HiFiMAN and Oppo.  It's hurry up and wait time.

Is Oppo single sided as well? Any sound impressions for those? They sure look beautiful.
