Hifiman HE-400i and HE-560: From CES to Pre-Launch - Page 74

Oh, I mean that I hope people actually pay attention to the 400i, instead of just completely ignoring it just because there is a higher end model. As some have stated, just because it's higher end, doesn't mean it may suit your preferences.

Look at the LCD2/3 and LCDX. Some still prefer the formers. HE500 and HE6. Some still prefer the 500. Considering the 400i has been stated to be like the 500, and the 560 to be more reference like the 6... we may have the same repeat of lower end models being slightly more euphonic/enjoyable to some people.

What if the HE-400i states to be like the HE-400?  I hope not, I've never been a fan if the HE-400s.

I'm hoping it isn't voiced the same. But more like the HE-4 with some HE-500 mids.

I believe the HFM rep already stated its more like the HE500. Obviously, the tuning isn't final, but that's a good sign it isn't simply just a 400 retuned.

That would be much better.

Hope the 400i is much closer to the 500 than the 400. Trying not to overstate it, the 400 is a treble nightmare. The 500 is a masterpiece.

Let's go spam the HE-400 thread and bring people back to reason! The HE-4 IS the real deal!

hahaha people spamming the HE-400 thread with HE-4 talk is sooo silly & kinda annoying

obviously, if we had wanted a HE-4, we would be on the HE-4 thread. i feel like most people who bought a he-400 already did their research & picked it for a specific reason as the hifiman products are pretty obscure outside the world of audiophiles.

The HE4 was so overlooked, people didn't even know it existed on the HE400 thread. For a headphone that came out years ago, talking about it JUST on the HE4 is stupid. Spreading the news to other threads, especially those wanting something the HE400 price range makes sense. Don't know what's annoying about it. Not like it turned the HE400 into the HE4 thread. A few people spoke about it. Wow.

I know some people looked into the HE4 AFTER reading about it on the HE400 thread. If it hadn't been mentioned, the HE4 would still be buried in the depths of underrated hell.

Yup I fell in the same trap. Hadn't even heard of the HE-4 before purchasing the HE-400 and ended up reading about the HE-4 in the HE-400 thread later on. I wish I had done a little more research before pulling the trigger otherwise I would almost certainly have an HE-4 right now.

mmm... well that is more the fault of people buying headphones not doing adequate research. i knew about the he-4 before i pulled the trigger on my he-400. didn't want to commit to more expensive amp/dac equipment.

hahah it's actually chill to bring up the he-4 on the he-400 thread, but i find it kinda funny. do he4 owners really think the only reason that less people have the he4 is because they haven't heard of it? from the posts i read, people make it sound like the he4 outperforms every single headphone on the market. lol. sounds to me like they are being over-hyped by owners & under-appreciated by everyone else. hilarious.

Same story here, but I ended up with the HE-4. No regrets, either. I am happy I never looked back. Everyone is always complaining about the he-400 and modding it, where few have complaints about the he-4 besides being hard to drive. I feel I do not need to mod the HE-4, it sounds good as is. Happy I stumbled upon that thread as well as a great deal.

Meanwhile, on the HE-400i/HE-560 thread, I feel we need to re-name the title to "Banter about everything but Hifiman's new products wink.gif"

Yes, few people actually heard it because the 500s stole the show when both were released. I'm yet to find a bad opinion on this headphone, actually, whereas the HE-400 is more a hate/love affaire.

The HE-4 outperforms any headphone in his category and that includes the HE-400, by far. Get a SA-31 - not so expensive - or, even cheaper, a M-Stage and rulezz...

An M-stage? I was always under the impression that the M-stage wasn't very powerful at all.

No it is not, so it won't sound big, but it is warm enough to prevent the nasty treble (that usually ensue when the headphone is not driven properly) to come out.

It is probably not optimal, but it still works for me.

I honestly thought the 400 replaced the 4. Now I know better and want to try the 4. I liked the 6. I don't like the 500 anymore.
