Only 2dB? Nah you gotta go 8dB at least for 14-20kHz.

re: bumping 14-20 kHz for more "air" that certainly did help.  Didn't use much.  And that graph posted earlier made me bump from about 1.5 kHz - 4 kHz in a gentle hump.  The HE-500s take EQ very well.  Not every source needs it, of course.  I love foobar2000's Graphic Equalizer component.

2db is perfect for me...but I do a "tad" bit more 30-50Hz, even with the emotiva and jorgpads. I am a sub bass head I guess evil_smiley.gif

I'm thinking about whether I'll need to buy them from a place with a return policy so I can properly compare to the 500. I usually know instantly what I like better, but the 500 is just so good, hard to take chances on it :/

I feel like doing this EQ makes everything sound hollow...

That's why I said it seems artificial.

The HE500 loses it's intimate sound signature IMO

I'm really waiting for someone to post a comparison of the 560 to the HE-6. If it somehow improves on the HE-6, that would be something.

+1
But a bit different maybe xP

I'm more interested in 400i impressions.

I hate it when bang for buck performers are lost in the higher end's spotlight.

Don't want a repeat of the HE-4's severe under appreciation with the 400i.

I am ready to buy either when a] there are some credible impressions [meaning longer than 5 min of listening] and b] become available :D

Wouldn't this be a better place to see 400i impressions?

The higher end models always overshadow the lower end stuff. Nature of the hobby IMO.

There is overshadowing, and there is complete dismissal and ignorance. It didn't go under the radar. It was basically completely forgotten.

All we got online was some misinforming reviews from headphone sites, with one popular site stating the HE4 was easy to drive. It needed more TLC. Severely underrated. So many people love the DT880, yet didn't know what the HE-4. Such a mistake.

Well you have to understand, except for private listing - the 400i (from my understanding) has only been shown to the public once at CES. Other than those that listened to it there, where else would the impressions come from? The recent NYC AC Gears event only demo'd the 560.

I tried my best to give the HE-4 the credit it deserves, but I have no authority here... frown.gif

Let's go spam the HE-400 thread and bring people back to reason! The HE-4 IS the real deal!

I am not complaining, just saying there is not much to base the purchase on yet.

Speaking of the ACGears meet, there hasn't been any in-depth impressions of the 560 either, at least not here [pretty sure I didn't miss anything :D]
