Wireless Speaker for Computer Audio

Thread Starter

What are your thoughts about using a "wireless portable speaker" with a desktop computer? My partner has been using the motherboard speaker on her system to play sound when watching movies/youtube in the study, I was hoping to improve the audio quality but we dont have the room for a big set up. Having had a look at the "portable" offerings I was thinking that they may fit her den/study and provide decent audio from a compact unit. The other added bonus would be being able to grab it for those occaisions when we head outdoors (picnics, BBQ's etc) etc

I was considering (any other suggestions are welcome):

-Bose Soundlink Mini

-UE BoomBox

-UE Boom

-Sony SRSBTS50

-Sony SRSBTX300

-JBL Flip

-JBL Charge

Ideally, the unit will charge via USB (not many do), produce good sound, have NFC and have 3.5mm aux. I am hoping to spend as little as possible.

if you plan on using them wireless,  and you watch movies on your pc it could be annoying as sound may be out of sync with video

I was planning to wire them into the computer (3.5mm aux requirement) but also be able to use them wirelessly for other purposes (grabbing when we go out).

Thanks. $799 is way out of the price range unfortunately

Car insurance bills are starting to flow in....first time this has happened (bought my first car last year) so cash is tight. Temporary solution is in place (reclaimed a Sony RDP-M7iP that I had brought into my lab)....In the mean time I will put the purchase on hold
