How are you finding the bass moving from w50 to w60?

Just to confirm what Law said. The W60 and 50 faceplates are plastic and not metal. If you overtighten the screw they will crack. Additionally, regular wear will cause them to crack.

The good news is that if you POLITELY reach out to their customer care, they will replace them for free. It was no big deal for me.

Let me back up. Regular use where you use your thumb to get full insertion will contribute to it.

After I messed up my first pair, I figured out that the shells flex and to handle them a a little more gently. I dare say that iI could go a very long time now that I know and not crack a pair.

Regular use for the uninformed remains....and Westone will replace them for free. So no biggie.

  • made soundstage a bit larger
  • got rid of the lower mid bass cloudiness/veil
  • added a very subtle and slight sub bass effect

you would have pure perfection.  Regardless of what SE846 does, what I describe above would be GOLD....and it sounds like W60 kind of does this.  As another poster mentioned, W4 was much more grown up sounding than SE535 so the improvements from SE535 to SE846 was much larger than it was from W4/40 to W60 (is what it seems like).

While SE846 seems to have the better "wow" factor and the best universal IEM  bass in the world, (it seems) the W60 still has a very nice FULL sound but better treble and transparency.  Sounds like an amazing IEM.

This sub-bass effect was achieved with the FiiO E12A. Totally. Now you feel it, you love it, its amazing. This amp's Bass Boost focus more on sub-bass. Much more than any other amp I have ever owned. Soundstage also gets a bit larger, so I think its pretty much near perfection. Also got a silver plated cable, which widens soundstage even more.

The lower mid bass cloudiness/veil was corrected by modding the Star Tips which consists in opening 2 holes near the dome with a thick needle.

more enjoyable on the W60, I'm not a bass head at all. The W50 was just LOADS of bass, Warmth + lots of bass make the sound veil, I dont like it much, using the sillicone help a lot but not for me.
