Any idea when your W60s will arrive DrSheep?

Late 70s were best for me, add in Permanent Waves and Farewell To Kings to my favourite, Hemispheres. And their really old stuff like Working Man and 2112.

Andrew,

I completely agree. Rush hit their stride with Caress of Steel through Permanent Waves as a prog band. They faded after that but that was some serious goodness and a long hit streak.

Pre-orders for ES60 are most likely going to start tomorrow. Anyone in?

Agree Dr. Sheep, that is why I use the Westone Star Tips with my 846. Far more comfortable with excellent seal and sound for me.

No clue, but if it will be released Monday (28 Apr 2014), then I should have it by Wed as I opted for 2nd day delivery.  However, testing is going to take a while as I have a lot of gear.  I will post something quick once I get it and do a quick comparison with the W4R + AK120, as this (W60 + AK120) is the setup I will be using most likely.

Yes I use the Westone star tips with the SE846 and find that to be more comfortable than the Shire tips as well.

Would love to see a review of this combo as that or a w60 + dx90 combo is what I'm considering, depending on how it compares with the se846.

My problem is that I don't own, or had listened to, the SE846, so the best I can do is to compare the W60 to the W4R, UE900, SA7, and my other full size headphones.  If this doesn't work out, then I will very likely just go straight to the top for a pair of JH Roxanne in CF...

Just got the W50, never experienced the W4r but tried the UM3X and currently own Merlins, UE900, Minerva Pro Performer customs.

Tried it with a x5, ak100 and DX90. So far the DX90 is the best pairing after about 1 hours usage but that could change after I swap out my 901 balanced card to an IEM card.

I was expecting something quite balanced with the W50 but it really is quite bass dominant for me compared to the UE900. My initial imperssion is a traditional consumer profile with a slightly laid back smooth treble and mid. It is kind of dark and thick actually and pairing with the DX90 was much better than the X5. Bass extension is great but the lack of headroom and extension in the treble just left me gasping a bit for breath.

Will let you know as we go along if anything changes.

Did Westone CS really say this is a balanced IEM with no frequency emphasis?

Thanks for the feedback, Marcus.

Where did you order yours? Is it available in the Philippines? Earphone Solutions perhaps?

I'm looking for Westone W40 but can't find any.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts marcusd, you're pretty much the first to share info regarding the W50. Hope you can do a review once you've burn in your W50.

Anyway how is the bass in comparison with the UM3X's? Is the quality and quantity great? Do you feel that it has bass slam? What about the soundstage?

This is a good question because I thought the UM10 was just ok and the Alpha series as just really way too dark and boomy.

Mine came straight from Westone Colorado actually as a review sample for which I have to say many thanks to the team there for their kind generosity.
