I'm not sure which model would provide this to me. I listen to house/electronic/classic/indie mostly. I'm not a bass head but for electronic music whenever there's bass, there also must be bass in headphones too. So can anyone recommend which one I should go with. Or should I wait for W50?

I am counting days for w50 and will see how bass will be compared to w40s and then decide. I don't think I will get um prp50s. I've asked one of pro50 users here to listen to one of my favorite house songs and he owns both. He said pro 50s though had more bass, it overpowered the rest of spectrum but w40 had decent refined bass. This is important. My hope is bass will only get better with w50.

Do we know for what spectrum will each driver be dedicated to? Hope bass gets two.

You are right about Pro 50's bass. And its mid-bass (with stock cable) are over-bleed into vocal. I like bass but not a basshead. Pro 50 was too much for me to handle and they sound too tick with stock cable. Sure I can buy aftermarket cable for them, but that take total price close to Shure SE846. For MOST people, recable for Pro 50 is must.

Actually, I am quite happy with my um pro 50s.

I am surprised that so many people here would prefer w4r than the um pro 50. :p

Something wrong with my ears?:L3000:

But, I also agree that the build quality is not good enough. It also looks "cheap".

I think I'm in the same boat.  Currently own the SE846 and looking forward to testing the W60.  I almost got the W40 but decided on the SE846, which I also really enjoy. However, depending on how much improvement the W60 is over the W40, it may force me to own both as the Shure and Westone sound is quite different, and I do enjoy both.

I will let you folks know...I have tons of hours on my 846s. I am hoping they come in within the next 30 days but who knows.

Also, I am wondering why head-fi reviewers/moderators have not had a chance to demo them for a review yet. To be honest, that one fact makes me think my month out guesstimate is probably not close...maybe 3 months ???

I'm dying to hear an SE846 vs W60 comparison! I look forward to it!

I emailed a local AD and he told me he should be getting the W50 before end of month and he might be getting the W60 near end of May, so maybe a month out might be close after all.  Looking forward to seeing your comparison.

Update-

1.  Earphone solutions has amazing service.  Every question I submit is responded to promptly and in a friendly manner.  Gotta love that!

2.  Regarding W60-  Here is what they have heard..."~~W60 will land in the USA next Monday. We should have them on Wednesday of next week..." assuming all goes as planned basically.

Looks like I might have them before Christmas afterall.  There may some good reviews coming from all the buyers soon.  Good luck to us all!

Cheers!

Nice, can't wait to try it out from my POS work PC to my M8 AMP'ed AK120...

BTW, for iOS users, you all should go get the new Westone BBE app ($3).  I tried it and it is great, plus it has all the presets for Westone IEMs!

p.s. make sure you get your free PFE 122 from Earphone Solutions when you order your W60 (or anything above $200.)

What about W50? No love for them? Their website is updated with a banner now saying good news on Monday or something like that. Hope it's not just for W60s.
