Introduction and regret(?)

Hi. I'm new here but I spent some time looking around.(not native english speaker).

I wanted a headphone (my fisrt one), and after searching a lot, I decided to go with the ath m50. My brother already bought it for me and he will come soon so I can see how good the m50s are. But I think i'm kind of regretting now. I knew they were a bit overrated but I kept reading so many good things about them that I couldn't resist. The problem is that I had the option to buy the HD 558. I read the wrong opinions about them and now I see they are much better than my m50(better sound stage, comfort, detail). I think I will regret my new M50 and I didn't even listen to them since i'm hearing bad things about them. ):

tl;dr I'm stupid

Traditional greeting:

Welcome to head-fi, sorry about your wallet...

This is called "buyer's remorse" - it's normal. The traditional head-fi greeting exists because experienced head-fiers know that there is rarely ever just one purchase. Don't consider the M50 your one and only purchase - it is simply your *first* purchase. If you had chosen the Sennheiser instead of the A-T, you would probably be feeling EXACTLY the same way - you would still be second-guessing yourself and wondering if you would have liked the M50 better. So - enjoy your new 'phones! And start saving your money for your next purchase...

If it makes you fell any better i have the M50s and the HD 558 and i ended up liking the M50s more.

the HD 558 does have better sound stage, comfort and detail but that is because they are open. they also lack bass even after i did the foam mod on them.

the good thing about the M50s is that they are closed back and that means you can take them on the go.

what i would do is stick with the M50s for portable use and then later down the road get a better pair of open headphones like the HD 600 or HE-400 for home use.
