recommend a power line conditioner?

i'm looking for an inexpensive power line conditioner. the only one i've been able to find for under $200 is the monster hts2000. are there any others? and, how is the monster one? i'm basically looking for something to regulate the AC power spikes that arise when my air conditioner or refrigerator turn on - it makes my DAC click momentarily. i'm unable to plug my stereo stuff into a different AC circuit. thanks.

Unfortunately, I don't think anything less than a regenerator will negate the effects of the fridge/ac kicking in. Although, for $200, you may want to check out a used Monster 3500.

I had periodic power line problems which a Brick Wall PW8R15AUD surge supressor/line conditioner took care of as well as making some sonic improvements in my source/amp sound. I plug the Brick Wall into my wall plug, and my headphone amp and source components into the Brick Wall. I had nothing as dramatic as popping or clicking in my power line. From time to time, my power line became noisy, and my sound quality would drop dramatically. Now, I have improved, and steady, sound quality from my source and amp equipment. I got the Brick Wall used for $200 on the Head-Fi For-Sale Forum.

I also think that a regenerator is the only solution for sure thing in such cases.

My monster powerbar 1100 didn't stop my AC/heater from making my DAC loose sync when it turned on/off.

So I'd recommend trying something that has easy return policy.

not to spend more of your money, and take what i say with a total grain of salt because I HAVE NOT HAD EXPERIENCE WITH THESE MYSELF, but i know of other audiophiles who have, but oneac is supposed to make some of the best line conditioners in the business. my .03 cents worth, the extra .01 is just cause i like myself....

this brick wall is only a surge protector, right? it doesn't have line conditioning, or am i missing something?

so even if i get a line conditioner, that still won't stop the periodic clicks on my DAC? hmmm...any other suggestions?

This may be a longshot but you can try different wall outlets or room of possible.

Kugino,

Have you looked at Furman power conditioners? Some of them are quite affordable. (example)

Kugino mentioned in his first post that he can't move the equipment to another AC circuit, unfortunately.

thanks for the suggestion, demolition. i think i'm going to try the monster one (since it's easily obtainable) and just see if it does anything...i'll be sure to get one from somewhere that has a good return policy.

Insanely good deal. Same filtering as HTS-2000.

Hey can someone do me a favour and buy that PC1000 from buy.com and ship it to me? I can cover shipping and everything. It's just that buy.com won't ship internationally, and I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada ...

In addition to surge protection, the Brick Wall provides noise filtering from EMI and RFI sources. Its noise filtering functionality was the primary reason why I purchased one, and it eliminated my power line noise problem. As a bonus, I get the surge protection.

I have the Monster HTS2000. It made a noticeable improvement in my system and I'm planning to upgrade again. Can you guys recommend one that is in the $300-400 range (new or used)??
