Hello,

In my opinion, all the terms "audiophiles" uses to describe the sound is basically what we see and feels then finally applying it into what we hear! Here's a link that have a list of terms and meanings ["audiophile" version of dictionary xD http://www.head-fi.org/a/describing-sound-a-glossary

As for rocks music, go for Grado that is within your price range or the MDR-7506 if you need isolation. HD439 if you really need good comfort

Hope it helps

Billson :)
