Like I said in your other thread, the HD 380's are not a active noise cancelling phone. I have no idea why they are categorized as such on head-fi's "head gear" page. Closed phones have passive noise isolation to a certain degree, but this is not the same technology as active noise isolation.

I believe the Senn PXC 350 has noise cancelling.

HD380 is just closed, nothing more and nothing less.

Yeah supposedly the 380Pro is the "new" 280Pro, but the old 280Pro has way better isolation imo.
None of them use active noise cancelling, it's just isolation, and the hard shell on the 280's make them very vulnerable to some types of noise...

How much better? Can you hear people talking next to you?

Yes you can. Pretty much always will, passive isolation only goes so far.
The 280Pro has the best passive isolation I've come across while still maintaining decent size and sound.
Next step is basically hearing protection for industrial use.

Perhaps you should look into IEM's, they are well known for providing excellent isolation.

Anyway, just drop by your local audio store and try on a pair of 280's? Best way is always to just try them for yourself and see if they fit your taste/use case.
