Yeah, it'll be pretty soon, then. I think I received them only a few days after Luis shipped them to me and I was on the other side of the country. With any luck, you may have them in just a few more days.

Very nice!!!

Mine showed up in two days.  I am in Utah.  So hopefully it's fairly quick,(no slow boat) to Hawaii.   You will be blown away, fresh out of the box...what will amaze you though is that they will noticeably improve over the first 20 hours of running them.   Seriously burn them in with

Random noise.  Go to jlabs audio and access the burn-in app under their support link.   Let it run while your sleeping and then give em a listen after you wake up.

My shipping is estimated to get here by next week monday.  Oh well.  I'm still excited!:)  Ya I have pink noise and white noise to do the burn in.

Excellent!

Very interested in comparing notes.. I 'm looking to upgrade the opamps in my Neco V3 to 4627's to hear what that will do.  It may be a couple

months before I have the money to finish up my gainclones.  And I still need to finish my new Core I5 overclocked music server.

But I am anticipating an improvement with the 4627's based on Flysweeps comments as well as a few others.

I guess getting the phones across the Pacific takes a bit longer!

Haha ya it does.  Ya have fun tube rolling.  I'll be using it with my UHA-6S.  Luis said that it would be enough but can scale up.

I was actually considering the starving students with a cable upgrade after finding out that they use the stock cable configuration.  So what do you get for the extra $200.  Luis 8 conductor 7n occ copper wire. In my case hardwired to the drivers.  I like that and then a new black well painted cups and Luis clever suspension system, which drastically increases wearability and long term comfort.   Actually I would have wanted to upgrade to the 8 braid copper which is 200 + with connectors.  All things considered the 200 more is quite reasonable for the extra's you get.  Love the wire and the suspension system.  Purple paint would have been the bomb, but that would have been extra and I would have had to wait quite a while.  So can you say good deal....yes indeed!  And doubtful there is a better headphone out there under a $1000.00  Would love to hear the th 600 and 900 for comparison....hehehehahahaha...muhahaha.

Luis your Awesome.    Would love to hear enigma's or Luis HE-6 mod, but I am very happy. %-)_,......!!!!!!

I think you're referring to Code-X. That's actually an HE-5 mod, which is why it's a limited edition model.

Also, is the suspension headband different on the regular Paradox and Slant than on the Starving Student model? Because my pair has a suspension headband that's different from any other sort of headphone I've used. If Luis is doing something even cooler than this with his other headphones, then I'd like to try them just to see how it changes the comfort. These things are already much more comfortable to me than other headphones I've used. If it can get any better, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I don't think so.  The only difference is the cable and paint job.  I see just a sleeve on the upper headband on some but, that part shouldn't touch your head.  You can check his site to see if yours looks different.

Other than that the Enigma yes, has a different headband and setup all together.  =)

Love your tagline...clever variant of Diego Montoya's classic retort!

I was misinformed and have been corrected by Mr.  Cervaza...lol!   The starving students, as viewed in the gallery do have the same suspension.  Forgive my Foolishness!

rember to put my slants on I will be fine...hehehhahaha.

So slants are arriving this week.   We should have a welcoming party!     I love the slants and Luis and all the camraderie and warm fuzzies that this marvelous transducer creates!

In a communique, okay a PM.  Flysweep reminded me from conversations with Luis, that these are very special.   Luis has in fact modified the drivers in comparison with the standard Paradox.

Oh happy day!!!!!!

You know, I'm actually not sure if that's where the writers got that from. It's a quote from Futurama. Given their typical writing style and their numerous references to literature, television and pop culture, I wouldn't be surprised if they did actually mean that to be a sort of twist on the Diego Montoya speech. I should try to look that up at some point.

No worries, we all make mistakes. =).  I just noticed the other day that my package is scheduled to be delivered on April 14th.  Thats next week.!  (I know, I'm being impatient ) I'm trying to see if there is a way to upgrade the package speed while in route.

Got my telerium copper rhodium plated 3.5mm from valabs.   Installed one on my slants and one on the LOD from my dac to my Neco.  They are cheap pretty and have very nice plating and a pseudo carbon fiber sleeve...doubt it's real carbon fiber.  But it has a cool glossy 3 d kind of pattern.   Worst thing...connector are made for small hands and a gentle touch,  Busted one but pried

up enough of the center tab from the insulator after breaking it off to actually get the wire temporarily holding till I could solder it down.  Did a connecting solder on in  it then a structural one around

it to beef it up.   The slants smaller gauge wire were not as challenging but still not easy...I am rather ham fisted when it comest to soldering and although my hand are only moderately large these

tabs made me feeling like a brute.   So these require patience, prefererably a soldering base with clips...mine is broken so I improvised with large vice grips and awkward stabilizing of the plug with that while using the same hand to hold the soldering iron.  The other hand was used to feed solder.  Used cardas Eutectic with lead.  My favourite stuff when soldering copper wire.   I like wonder solder when using silver.   But I'm curious to try Johnsons or mundorf's higher silver content solders, but not with copper wire. Which is what I have with my LOD and the slants.

Sound,  surprisingly better,  listened to headphones first.  Based on the improvement over the switchcraft Luis provided it was quite noticeable.  More detail particularly, more space, slightly improved dynamics, a hint brighter.  But plugs and solder joints settle in with current flowing as well and when you move wire it takes a little while to settle.    You may think I'm nuts, rather I am an audiophile

you used to work in the industry and did tech support for a notable wire manufacturer in Utah.   These things are not hard to hear when you really listen and love your music and are very familiar with

it.  So the sound is smoothing out after a couple hours of listening.    There is endless fun in tinkering with even the little things that make up your listening system.  The slants are amazingly revealing of every little things.  They are truely instruments of both music and analysis.   And every little thing they do is magic.  Like the old police song.   Sting is  the slants particularly his airy atmospheric acoustic stuff.

Then soldered up the LOD and same level of improvement over again.   Wow you would think I changed electronics.  Nope just connectors and good silver eutectic solder.   My roomate with all the tools and woodshop access is gone on some family emergency for a couple months which mean can't build the chassis for my gainclones.  Bubinga and aluminum....but no tools and I want to do

the chassis myself.   So I am going to get a new LOD from Dave's cables.  Either his D3 or new D4.   Awesome guy, brilliant stuff and remarkably reasonably priced but not cheap.  Stuff will hold

it's own against anything out there at prices that might shock you in a good way. So may just live with V3 for longer and see if I can get some 4627's from Neco.   Would love to have a V4 at some point.

This hobby is incredible.  So many good people do amazing things...making it better for everyone.

I salute all of you!

Happy Listening,

jgwtriode.
