Dell Venue 11 pro as music server

Thread Starter

I'm getting a Mytek Digital Stereo192-DSD-DAC and am considering a Dell Venue 11 pro as a music server.  I'd like to play DSD and other hi-res files but the storage requirements can fairly quickly exceed what's available for the Dell.

The Dell has a USB 3 port.

Would it be feasible to connect the Dell tablet to a USB 3 hub and connect the Mytek and an external HD to the hub?

Resurrecting a dead thread, but to answer your question: yes, I believe it will, as anything that runs on Windows 8.1 will run on this.

After talking briefly with Purk at the A-VCOA meet in Atlanta a few weeks ago, I decided to pick up a Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet to replace my aging laptop as source for my music (I link libraries in JRMC and play the music to my laptop/tablet from my desktop). That actually worked well enough that I decided I'd like a bigger screen and just ordered the Dell Venue 11 Pro (with the Atom processor so there are no fans inside). I haven't received it yet, but it's running a full version of Windows (not the stripped-down RT garbage), so anything that loads on Windows should load fine on it. I have downloaded and installed the drivers necessary for my Lynx Hilo DAC to the Venue 8, and it works quite well (I'm listening to it now, actually). Seems like an interesting and increasingly cost-effective way to get a quiet media PC for those who need one.

Anyway, hope this helps somebody. :)
