Upgrade From Shure SRH840. IS the PSB M4U1 Answer ?

I'm looking for a headphone that has the same sound signature as Shure SRH840, only improved. From what I have researched, I need to spend big bucks to get an ALL AROUND improvement (Shure 1540) , unless I purchase the PSB M4U1?

Others have claimed the 1540's and PSB M4U1's sound like 840's only improved.
How do 1540 and PSB M4U1 compare to the 840's in all sonic areas?

I love the 840's to death, i'm just simply wondering can it get any better?

Any thoughts at all?

I have the 840 and M4U 1 in front of me. Listened to both for a few days. I didn't like the 840 at all, listened to them once and briefly then put them back in the box. I'm not sure how to describe, I just didn't really like anything about the sound.

The M4U 1 I think are amazing and the best sound I have heard under $300. But they are quite large and heavy, and I need something for occasional portable use, so I very reluctantly am sending them back. If I was going to use them as my desk only they would be my top pick.

I actually am considering them because my Shures have a crack in the head band.

The sound of the Shure SRH840 is great to me, at least.

Well see, later.
