I'm hoping to get some recommendations for a good set of in-ear headphones for about $100. I've read a bunch of reviews and what not but they seem to cater to general audiences. Also, these will be my on-the-go earphones.
I listen to instrumental music primarily, mostly in the genre of electronic music, jazz, and rock. For reference, some of my most listened-to bands are Thievery Corporation, Royksopp, CHON, the Mercury Program etc. As for jazz, some examples include Sade, Lee Ritenour, and other jazz compilations. Rock songs I listen to are primarily guitar-based such as Joe Satriani, Guthrie Govan, Andy Timmons etc. Also, the jazz songs tend to have vocals in them as do R&B songs I listen to.
I'm looking for a pair of earphones that will give a relatively flat response. I don't mind a slight emphasis on bass, but I really dislike thin and shrill high-ends. I currently own a pair of Audio Technica M50s, and they're a pretty good example of the kind of sound I'm looking for. I compose and produce music myself, so I really like hearing the fine details of a song, as well as the different layers in a mix.
All my audio files are 320kbps mp3 and played through an app called EQu (which has a graphic eq) on an iPhone 4. As for hardware, it's iPhone 4 >> FiiO L9 >> FiiO E6 >> earphones.
With that, what would you recommend? Thanks in advance!
