You should also try bending the headband a bit to get a better seal! I did days of trying different bending combinations before I found the perfect one. The key is to bend towards the ends of the headband and not right in the middle and not to make it too tight because that ruins the bass. Remember to not bend too hard just considering the value of them wink.gif Once it's perfect, they end up being surprisingly balanced headphones aside from the bass-hump, but not even that bass-hump is invasive in any way.

The entry is recessed :/

Holy crap, that helps them stay on my head much better.  Thanks for the tip!

EDIT: Bass is much heavier now, oh boy :p Basically bass-head quality with what others have said (before I wasn't getting this because the seal just wasn't strong enough).

EDIT 2: Take that back, the bass is stronger, but not as much as I initially though.  The cable has a lot to do with that.  The original cable is a lot less bassy for some reason (compared to the V-Moda cable) :/  Odd. This could be throwing off impressions.  I'd suggest trying to get a replacement cable from Perfect-Sound.  I do agree that the build on the cable is a bit shoddy.

The weird thing about the Didos is that the bass goes down in quantity when you bend the headband too much :S So you need to make a perfect compromise between stability/seal and bass lol It's tricky to get it right!

It was more or less the cable swap IMO.

Honestly all of this talk about Cable swapping and Headband bending drive home my orignal point

these feel like a half baked product.

At the price of $750 I don't want to have to warp the headband or buy a new cable OR have to adjust the position on my ears :/

all of those little querk should have been addressed before they even attempt to sell this headphone. I've not had a chance to ship it out as i've been super busy with Finals, not to mention some other problems in my life so I apologize to PSXSS and the rest of you for that

but all in all, compared to my Modded D2k which cost me about $725... there's really no comparision. The Modded D2k is so much ahead of the Dido exempt in... size. The Dido is easier to carry around,

I'll post my review here in teh next few days. I should get them out in the mail tommorow

There is no universal "mend" to get the headband to work for 100% of heads.  This is why a lot of products, like V-Moda for example, advertise a headband that is mendable...  Perfect-Sound hasn't made any statement on this, but this really only needs to be done if your head is small (and you aren't achieving a seal).  As for headphone positioning, it's an effect on all headphones.  It doesn't matter which one it is.  General rule of thumb is if you move it forward, you'll get more bass response, if you move it back, you'll get less.  Some are more sensitive than others, but it really is inevitable.

Keep in mind that the Dido use a weaker seal, but the sound does depend on the seal itself...  The foam pads will conform to a person's head with time.  With so many people it's adapted to already, it could have easily warp well out of place.  There are a lot of things that aren't accounted for when you do something like this.  For example, the headband bending...  If one person bends it for him, then sends to someone else, that someone needs to bend it for himself (or bend it back).  Who knows how many times the headband has been adjusted and warped.  So by the time it gets to you, it's been warped around the original shape that may or may not have worked for the majority of people (averaged sized heads) that used it.

You technically don't need a new cable for these, the cable supplied works, if it isn't broken.  Keep in mind that this cable is getting packaged, repackaged, bent, rebent, used, unused, etc.  The bends and packaging procedures are inconsistent from person to person (this will weaken any cable in short time).  I'll agree that the cable isn't the best built, but they also don't tear apart easily.  Also to note is that the cable business is big on Head-Fi.  Any headphone, 100 dollars or 1000 dollars does have cable options and it can change the sound.  It's simple physics...  There is no "best" cable either, that is as subjective as the "best" headphone.

Thanks for your impressions Mshenay and for your upcoming review! ;)

I can definitely see about your "cons" since I have LA-modded D5000s (which I prefer over a bunch of headphones!)

Thanks, and I get that every headphone has some effect from the position, but my HE 4, my LawMD2k really only fits one my head one way. From the first time it plops on my head its an ideal sound, the HE 4 is the same, moving it from the most comfortable position results in less than ideal sound, heck even my W1000x [which I had to warp the crap out of the head band] only fits my head one way [after bending] but all of my headphones [minus the D2k] cost less than the Didio 901 and all have more comofort and better Sound :/, yea I had to warp my W1000x headband but pff it was like $350 no big deal. Double the price and all of a sudden the little things you mention become a bigger issue

but yea the LA D5k and LA D2k should be some what simmilar in sound,  either way, I've got inter net, sadly my...friend I care a lot about, needed gas money yesterday, so $15 later an Im broke :/ It'll be thursday when I get to the Post office q.q

Sorry again to PXSS. I'll get a new cable from Mono Price and Ship it to you bro, the one it comes with is shot, plus it'll be my apology gift to you <.<

Finals?  Who focuses on finals, it's all about the headphones :p  JKJK, I feel your pain, I'm finally done with finals, two a day for two days.  Good luck with finals though, hopefully you won't need it :p

Just an update,

Haven't received these yet.

Hopefully Mshenay can get them out to me soon or I won't be able to review them as I'm planning an overseas trip in the next few weeks.
