I like the looks of the McIntosh though :D

True, I want to get something that has the newest technology, but I guess that's the price I pay for wanting the latest..no reviews. Yeah it sure does look pretty sweet.

Honestly, I don't think there are any technological breakthroughs you're going to be missing out on if you get a product that's been around for a year or so. DSD is the only really new thing out there, and plenty of DACs can already do that.

I think I'm either going to get the McIntosh or Hugo, I'm leaning toward the Hugo because of its portability (added benefit) but also I can always purchase an amp to upgrade it later on. I will probably wait a few weeks - month to see how others like it before I bite the bullet. I'm a very indecisive person

I've been told that the DAC is the most important item, then comes the AMP. So I would prefer to invest in a great DAC at first then the AMP later on.

You will need both a DAC and an amp. If the DAC comes with a headphone jack, then it has an amp inside it. That internal amp may or may not be good enough to get the most out of your headphones, but you can definitely upgrade the amp to an external unit later on.

Another combo unit you might want to check out is the Concero HP. Some users in the Concero thread report using it with the LCD-2, though you would probably benefit from a beefier amp. But be aware that it only has a headphone jack, so you would have to plug into an amp using a TRS to RCA cable.

IMO it would be best to just get separate DAC and amp at once. You'll have more choices.
