Will headphones get more comfortable over time?

Thread Starter

I recently became an owner of some sennheiser momentums, my first pair of what I would say are audiophile type cans. At first I was a little underwhelmed, but this was just due to having really high expectations going into it. As I listened longer I really started to enjoy the headphones and noticed the differences between these cans and some my previous ones (better clarity in the highs etc.).

The problem though is that after a a number of hours, about 3-5 hours I noticed my left ear started to hurt a little. My Ears fit into the ear cups nicely as I know that seems to have been a problem for users on the forums. But I think the reason for them being uncomfortable on me is that the left earcup isn't deep enough for my left ear and so some of the cartilage in my ear is being pressed against some of the harder parts of the actual speaker (or driver, or whatever plastic/metal thing is under the cloth there).

Is there anything I can do about this? I like the cans a lot so I don't want to return them, I am hoping that my ear will sort of just get used to it. Do you think this will happen? Anyone had experience with this type of problem etc?

It's not you. The Momentum's are just really small. It's infamous for is fit and comfortability issues.
