Trance - Page 2

I would have thought that the HD650s are a bit bass light for Trance? Even if you're not some sort of basshead.

The 650 are a bit more to the left site of the frequencies, so rather for basspeople I guess and they don't have this high treble spike, which is the main reason I bought the 600 over the 650. Trance has many treble stuff so I would suggest the 600 over 650 but don't quote me on that.

Regarding some links of old (real nice) trance I mean something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYTzbRaRVwk (Java - Cosmos (Original Mix))

Is there a trance topic anyway (not a "is this headphone good for trance/..." (just get a >=HD600 and get over with how much it costs, it's worth it, not only for trance but later for classical music too, in case you might want to try that and other genres too))?

Yes i did listen to trance tracks from before 1999, i just started to listen to trance 1999. Do you listen to a lot of trance today? If not, maybe you should try, because i think your missing a lot of really good stuff.

The artists that i liked a lot around 1999 was

Chicane

Ferry Corsten

Vincent de moor

Matt Darey

Paul van dyk

and many many many more.

I also feel like the complex trance melodies are becoming more today. Take the awesome track Ronny K - Atlantis as an example, that melody loop is a whopping 32 bars long. Thats just insane and you will probably only find that in classical and symphonic tracks.

I myself tried both HD650 and K701 and chose the less bassy headphone K701. Its just a matter of taste. The K701 has a bigger soundstage which is also nice for trance.

Here is an old track that is absolutely absolutely amazing, from 1993!!! Sounds like its from 2003 or something. Way ahead of its time.

Humate - Love Stimulation (Paul van Dyk's Love Club Mix)

I just listened to Ronny K - Atlantis, it sound ok but nothing special and kind of like all the other nowadays I think (and many comments on nowadays tracks say this too, even some of the well known people producing trance/.. tracks).

I don't listen to a lot new trance tracks today but I listened to a lot old hidden trance classics and they are indescribably much better than tracks from nowadays.

I know of course Humate - Love Stimulation :)

Chicane's Saltwater (Original) is nice too.

L.S.G. - Hearts     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RzfWRgue7M

Bas Molendyk - Just Married   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F67_f91DNSE

Earth Nation -  Alienated     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AzTU01Eawo

Paragliders - Paraglide (Blue Sky Mix)     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhHZr0BwXgA

Icon - Desire (Icarus Mix)     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCMjkXMQ9Og

Java - Cosmos (Original Mix)     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYTzbRaRVwk

(yes I'm aware this is YouTube sound quality)

Cyberia - Mr Chills Back (door 1)

Illuminatus - Hope (Ambient)

L.S.G. - Rendezvous in Outer Space (the whole album is a journey)

I love Ronny K - Atlantis but ofcours, its subjective. Its a really complicated melody, it might just take you time to enjoy it :)

I will listen to the track you posted. I know some of them.

I know what you mean :) Some tracks which I once deleted I stumbled upon later and find them very nice. Although I'm kind of too experienced with what I like now, I would say.

Happy listening :)

Oh, L.S.G. was really good, yes. Oliver Lieb quit making Trance too early though, he saw the dead coming, I guess. He's making Techno nowadays, people say he kept his good old quality though. Netherworld is a huge favourite of mine, a true classic. In 2005 however there were a few new remixes of it and Oliver Prime made an outstanding one which I find to be better than the Original for some reason.

Netherworld is indeed a classic. Lieb's recent work is also indeed rated good (on YouTube). "Rendezvous in Outer Space" is for me by far the best electronic music album. RMB - Horizon (album) is nice and a bit like a journey too (but for me kind of doesn't come even close to RIOS, but has some very nice tracks). For the last five years I mostly listen to classical music though (J.S.Bach, Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, ..), try it! :) If I had to chose between electronical or the classical pieces I'd chose classical (of course the electronical are indescribably nice, but classical is another level or so, at least for me).

I haven't really tried Classical to be honest with you, but I've been a long time listener of Trance and I don't think I'll move away from it even if the scene's so bad as it is now.

Now Playing: Elevation - Blinding Truth
I don't know how many of you guys remember or know this, but I'm sure as hell that this was one of Elevation's very best productions. I really liked what he and Markus produced around 2004. Tracks like Clear Blue and Largo were beautiful.

One only lives once, you shoud try it sometime, get/train your brain used to it, try Glenn Gould plays The Well Tempered Clavier (listen all through it, several times) :)

I don't find any of my trance classics bad or something BTW. For me they are for different kind of purposes.

Thread doesn't seem to be so active. :(

Finally we've got a great release, a collaboration between Basil O'Glue and Wellenrausch. Both of them are the best at making Progressive Trance at the moment. Take a listen!

Here are a few names worth knowing if you're into trance:

Hiroyuki ODA aka HSP

Nhato

Kyohei Akagawa

I've heard of Nhato before, will definitely check these out later. Some underground names there.

Closing the day with this one, very calm Trance from Airwave under his Lolo alias. This one was also included in Armin's Universal Religion Chapter 1 if that makes some people remember better.
